A hidden gem

Our 6th stay at Camara Gardens and we will be back. Beautifully presented by the owner Denise and her Gambian family. The apartments are very comfortable with European style fixtures and fittings including an excellent shower and very comfortable beds. Outside is a lovely pool which is always clean and well maintained. A very relaxing atmosphere where one can just lounge by the pool or take a short walk to lovely beaches

We strive hard to maintain our standards, this hasn't been easy during the last few years, we are looking forward to travelers returning to Gambia or visiting for the first time in the near future. My Nephew Lamin aka "MR" is the one we have to thank for keeping the pool and gardens so spotlessly clean!

Great place to relax and unwind

I have been in Gambia for a year and stayed in many places around the country. I must say by far, this has been the best place for value and facilities to suit my needs. I cannot thank Denise enough and her staff, they welcomed us, quite stressed out in need of a quiet place to stay. The pool was an absolute god send under the hot sun. The location is good, not too far away from the hustle and bustle of Turntable but close enough to shops.
Plenty of outdoor seating and tables, solar lights at night, trust fridge, pool side towels and washing service at local rate provided. You literally just need to turn up and enjoy, there are plenty of items provided in the kitchen, gas hob, electric and stove top kettles (very important) I didn’t have to miss out on having a cup of tea when the power went off. The kitchen was clean all items that are provided were clean and thoughtfully selected. The apartment is a good size with dining table and chairs, tv, free WiFi, good sized sofa bed and other seating. The shower was great and bathroom in good order. I loved it, to be honest I didn’t want to leave. I will definitely be going back as a first choice to stay, Camara Gardens for me, was an hidden gem that was needed to enable me to relax and unwind. Thanks to all the staff Mr, Fatima, Kaddy and to Denise for all the effort that has gone into making this my favourite family run business in The Gambia.

Best Place ever to stay!

Amazing hosting styles, clean, friendly host, this is the second time that my family stayed and they loved it, lovely place to stay in for short or long term.
Denise and Effo and Mister are the best, really looked after my family on top of that my kids get to watch Netflix! bonus

Camara Gardens

A very welcoming place to stay in a quiet area. Very safe and close to the beach , local bars and restaurants. The apartment was very clean and tidy with a well equipped kitchen. Would certainly come back and stay.

Absolutely loved this place!

I stayed at Camara Gardens for three weeks and absolutely loved it.
The apartment was spotlessly clean. The kitchen was very well equipped and had just about everything I needed to enable me to cook for myself including an oven, hob, microwave, fridge with a small freezer compartment and a kettle, plus plenty of pots, pans and crockery etc.
The living room was beautifully furnished including a large sofa (sofa bed)
As for the bedroom, I have to say that the bed was so comfortable, one of the best hotel beds I have ever slept in! Lots of wardrobe space for all my clothes (I took far too many)
Plenty of electric sockets too.
The bathroom had the most amazing huge electric shower.
The pool was lovely, extremely clean and very well maintained (by Mister who cleaned it twice a day) there was a good outside poolside shower too.
The outside area was great too with comfy sofas to chill out on and a nice seated area which I used for my breakfast each morning. It was especially beautiful in the evening with candles lit throughout the garden.
I was so impressed that I am planning a return trip later in the year with friends booking all four apartments so in effect it will be like a private villa.
Denise was simply the best host, she was so kind, helpful and friendly from the minute I arrived I was made to feel so welcome. It was clear that she has a lot of experience of the tourist industry and of the Gambia. Her family were also lovely, they even included me in a family birthday party.
As a lone traveller I was quite nervous when I arrived but after a few days of finding my feet I felt so comfortable, safe and welcome at Camara Gardens, it really was "home from home"
Location wise, it was a short walk to the beach and only a cheap taxi ride away from Senegambia. It was ideal for me as I wanted to be close enough to go to places easily and at the same time not be in the heart of a main busy tourist area.
Overall I couldn't fault the place and would highly recommend it.
I'm so looking forward to my return visit.
(Sorry for the long review, I do waffle on a bit but this place deserves it )
