Another great week at Hibiscus

Another fab week at Hibiscus. Beautiful weather (as always) very relaxed with Hibiscus being a haven of peacefulness and a great base. As always looked after by the friendly team.

Eight Day Holiday Stay

We booked and were asked did we want a taxi form the airport...yes.
Asked again just before departure ..never got round to a response.
Arrived sorted out Sim money then found a local taxi.
Arrived Hisbiscus and it was totally deserted no staff no guests.
Eventually someone showed up and gave us a room.
The curtains are very light then there was the pool lights. I found it difficult to sleep the entire stay.
A reccy round the hotel site revealed long unused rooms a derelict second pool and few guests..us and later one other.
At breakfast i refused to sit down as the tablecloth was heavily stained and it wouldnt be the last time we were expected to sit with stained table linen.
The duvet cover in our room had what looked like blood splatter on it. A stand off with the cleaner resulted in ..its not blood i washed it but they wouldnt replace it.
The tap in the bathroom was wobbly n only emitted the merest trickle of water. Really it was the shower head for hand washing etc.
Then there was Mr cockroach. No cover on the shower drain. We are an elderly couple so always get up in the night so the lights had to go on cos of what might have been about.
But once we got all on the menu out of the kitchen I cant fault the food it was superb.
The owner was often about n was hugely helpful in setting up some really good trips.
The original layout of this resort was well thought out and beautifully furnished but is now a little tired.
This aint 4 star accom. And it wasnt oh its Gambia we moved on to another hotel that had the highest western standards. And I am sure it not the only hotel of that standard in Gambia. We visited a few for coffee meals.

Quit dated hotel

Quit litlle hotel. Very dated bathrooms and rooms. The (friendly)manager was not around so the staff did the minimum. Waiting for your food more then 1,5 hours and we were the only guests. Disproportional prices. Pool was leacking took them 3 days to repare. But there was another pool. Also the leacking pool was very dirty. At our last day they finally clean it with chlorine.
Also the pillows from outside furniture were very dirty.
For this price you can find more luxery places

Delightful stay

Gorgeous place to stay - delightful staff couldn't be more helpful; lovey mature garden, full of a huge variety of birds; well maintained, comfortable and clean; great food. Perfect place to relax after a week up river. Great base for exploring southern beaches, bird reserves and Brikama.

Another great week at Hibiscus

Another great week at Hibiscus...fourth time here. The usual super friendly staff, a great location to get out and about.
