Cozy beachfront hotel

A very good beachfront hotel. Walking distance to all main locations of Sukhum.
Everything is very decent at the hotel, A+ service. Daily room service, all the supplies.
Breakfasts are included in the price.

I don't recommend it, we're definitely not coming back here.

It's not comfortable right now because of renovations. Approach the hotel through the boards. Regular boards on the ground. The baby fell on the first day and shattered his knees. Asking for peroxide and a tampon to stop the blood, they barely found anything like it. There was no apology. Dust flies to the restaurant and the "sea view" rooms. The waterfront in front of the hotel. There's ruins and excavations. Camazy and tractors drive - dust and dirt fly to the restaurant. Well, it's not the perfect vacation. There's no beach because of the renovation. Or rather, there is. But it's covered in garbage from leftover food to cans and glass. Although the people are like mice in a joke - crying but eating cactus - picking up towels and sunbathing/swimming amidst this horror. We booked six months in advance. We were promised paradise and chic views/waterfront/pool. Eventually we arrive and I've been in shock for 30 minutes. Didn't know to cry or laugh (the reconstruction started in April and we just didn't want to be notified so we wouldn't change our minds about going!!!). The pool said to open on June 10 (all years on May 31, but here apparently due to repairs delayed... And the point is, the flow dropped a hundredfold) and that dirty...
The hotel itself. If it was opened in 2016, it rattled it like that. Or the owner prefers to milk what he eats without much investment. Cleaning every day. Towels are changed in a day. A can of soap-and-drill battery. But! The curtains are already permanently stained, the torch and ceiling are divorced, the shower has broken sockets and mold on the ceiling. The balcony is rusty and divorcéed, the carpet is white with salt stains, the air conditioning is slumbering, and it is impossible to sleep with an open balcony - the air conditioning on the ground floor of the restaurant works at night and trembles even more.

My 8-year-old son's hotel owner banged his head against an iron pole. Abkhazia, Hotel "Dam" - please do not repeat our osh

“My 8-year-old son was banging his head against an iron pole. Abkhazia, Hotel Dam - please do not repeat our mistake”
I kept quiet for a long time. Because it hurts. It hurts to remember how your child, who was waiting for the sea and adventure, cringes with fear. It hurts to know that you brought him to a place where a grown man raises his hand at someone else's child.
But if I don't tell you, your kids might be next.
How we got to hell
Last winter, my children and I went to Abkhazia, the Hotel Dam. Picked on the basis of reviews - then it was quiet, cozy, promised a family holiday. We naively believed it.
One night I went out to the hotel restaurant to pay. Messing around with a map, the kids were nearby -- I thought they were safe. Suddenly, I heard a strange scuffle behind me. She turned around and my heart stopped.
The owner of the Dam Hotel was holding my 8-year-old son and banging his head against an iron pole.
Didn't spank. I didn't. Exactly banging his head against the metal. I can still hear that sound.
I stood up for him alone.
I started screaming. Call for help. You know what happened? The hotel staff were standing. Freezing. We did. Nobody moved. Nobody said to this man, “Stop.”
I had to jump on the hotel owner, snatch my baby out of his hands. I'm the mother, no security, no support. And the employees were just watching.
What happened then
I packed my bags. At night, with the kids, in a foreign country, running around looking for a place to sleep. We were scared, we had no roof over our heads. My son cried and didn't understand why someone else's uncle hurt him so much.
I filed a police report. The police took NO action. Zero. Silence.
None of the staff at the Dam Hotel approached, apologized or offered to help. Even the on-call "sorry." Nothing.
The baby is still scared. I think it'll stay with him forever.
Why you shouldn't go to the Dam Hotel
Even if you decide that “this is not going to happen to me”, understand the main point:
The hotel owner is capable of physically assaulting someone else's 8-year-old. If he does that when his mother is around, what will he do when she's not?
Hotel staff won't interfere. They stood and watched. They won't protect your child. No one will.
The police in this region will not investigate a crime against your child. Your safety there is just you. And if the rapist turns out to be the hotel owner, the law will be powerless.
No apology, no responsibility. They don't even feel the need to pretend they're ashamed.
Anyone reading this is kindly requested
Please spread the story. Hotel "Dem" (Abkhazia) should not receive a single ruble, not a single dollar from families with children. No child should ever have to experience what my son did again.
I didn't write it before because it hurt too much. Every time I started remembering, I was shaking. But now I realize if I don't say anything, this man will continue. And his staff will continue to stand and watch.
Do not go to the Dam Hotel. And please warn others.

An excellent hotel for a holiday of any kind

An excellent hotel for a family or group holiday. Friendly staff, delicious cuisine. Cleaning and change of towels daily. The rooms are clean and spacious. The location is wonderful, on the waterfront, everything can be reached on foot. I really liked the hotel.
