Highly recommended

We spent a week there on holiday. Since we were very satisfied there 3 years ago, we went there again. Nice rooms, very good cuisine and also very nice landlords and employees. I can only recommend it.

Highly recommended restaurant...

We, my wife and I stayed for a week in Altenberg on short break.
Since we had only booked bed and breakfast in our hotel, we went on a restaurant search on the second evening.
We came across the Hotel & Restaurant "Kobär" with the offer of fresh chanterelles.
Right in front, we returned here for the next three days...
In addition to the dishes with chanterelles, we tried the three kinds of meat skewer as well as two kinds of fish dishes.
All food was very nicely presented, very tasty and price - performance was also very good.
The owners (operator & cook) were very friendly, accommodating and you can say family. Since the kitchen closes at 20:00, the owner (chef) joins the guests for a casual conversation when it is timed. We felt very comfortable.
My wife and I can 100% recommend the restaurant...

Don't do this to yourself.

One star is flattering! There were three of us for lunch. The restaurant was only moderately busy at lunchtime, but the waitress was clearly overwhelmed. We waited well over half an hour for our food. Two of the three dishes were not what we ordered. We noticed that the waitresses at the neighboring tables were also constantly making mistakes. There was of course no tip for this "service," which the waitress responded to with the comment, "I'm not impressed." The "boss" who was called to the table also did not seem inclined to apologize. Congratulations, keep it up, then at least the business downfall will be assured.

Wäre gerne wieder gekommen

Beim ersten Mal war es echt toll, so dass wir noch einmal dort hin wollten. Nirgends eine Info, dass alles reserviert ist. Am Tag davor war um viertel nach fünf alles dunkel und abgeschlossen.
Eine Info am Schild an der Straße, vielleicht schon am Vortag, wäre echt super gewesen.
Vielleicht gelten hier ja andere Gepflogenheiten als im Rest der Welt. Im Herbst ins Erzgebirge zu reisen, ist sicher ein Fehler.

Gute bodenständige Küche

Wer bodenständig und handwerklich gut gemacht im Raum Altenberg essen möchte, sollte das Gasthaus Kobär einen Besuch abstatten. Die Bedienung ist freundlich und aufmerksam. Heute ist Sonntagabend und es sind nicht viele Tische besetzt. Eine Reservierung ist nicht nötig.
