Simply fantastic

"Wow"..that actually describes our stay best. We were greeted very friendly at noon and we were immediately issued the Albkarte, with which we had 5 hours free admission to the Albthermen, only 2 minutes away by car.
Back at the hotel, we then had a whole suite just for the three of us, to our surprise. A large, very clean and extremely well furnished suite in the 2nd floor. On the ground floor, with a roof terrace, which was equipped with several sunbeds, seating, outdoor shower and sauna.
In my bedroom I even had a very high quality massage chair.
Several toilets and even a separate dressing room had the suite.
The whole place was first class clean, cozy and very chic.
The staff was very nice and accommodating. Rarely experienced such great employees in a hotel.
We were eating outside in the evening as the in-house restaurant had closed.
The breakfast buffet was fabulous.
There was nothing there wasn't.
Everything was constantly freshly replenished. The rolls better than some bakers.
From the egg to the jams..it was really all there. Even salmon with horseradish, fresh fruit salad.
Bottom line...
We will come back. Once a year we will make our girls' trip to Bad Urach to the Bischoffshotel, firmly for ritual.
1000 thanks for everything...
Many greetings,
Three moms from Freudenstadt who had a super relaxed wellness weekend thanks to you!

Not recommended

The room no. 7 is not recommended in the summer due to the heat! No air conditioning available. The view is catastrophic. Upon arrival, we wanted to eat at the hotel, but unfortunately all tables were occupied. For all other hotels booked via Booking, I always received an inquiry in advance asking if we would also like to eat at the establishment. In this case, the hotel does not care as much about its own guest. Too bad.

Good hotel in a central location - with the price there would be little room for improvement compared.

The room was a comfortable size (room category L). What is certainly missing in warm temperatures is air conditioning of the room. We could not turn down the radiators - everything seems to be centrally controlled - we were already too warm in the room. The mattresses were pleasantly firm - with the pillows we would have liked at least the choice of a neck pillow in the room category and price - but is not offered. We only learned during the stay that the rooms on the 2nd floor were OG can also be given to people with dogs - this should be taken into account with known allergies. Here would have been nice information in advance. In the bathroom we missed ways to hang the damp towels. There is only one radiator in the shower area and a small rod at the sink for the 4 towels - definitely too little. Also, we would illuminate the bathroom more - but that is always a matter of taste. Nevertheless, a nice room that was attractively decorated (black bathroom you have to like).
The breakfast buffet was, in our opinion, noticeable that very few guests were in the house. If only 2-3 parts of each are offered and several containers are empty, it just looks a bit "lost" at first glance, but was sufficient when refilling. There is a coffee machine and ready-made orange and multi juice. Small selection of fish, sausage and cheese, as well as 2 jams and honey and nut cream are available. Fresh fruit and ready-made yogurt portions are available. All in all a good breakfast with very nice service staff.
One evening we had dinner in the adjoining and associated restaurant Kesselhaus - here the service was first-class and super friendly, the food excellent and more than sufficient and the price-performance ratio absolutely fine - inside a very nice ambience, which you do not suspect from the outside.
Overall, the hotel location is not such that you can sit outside at breakfast or in the restaurant.
The service was very different. Particularly kindly noteworthy is a service worker at breakfast as well as in the restaurant and the cleaner. The service at the reception could thus also be in a much cheaper hotel. Although we had clarified in advance that we will arrive earlier - around 11.00 am and then probably need the albcard - and this was also confirmed to us, the reception was locked on arrival, although according to the albcard. Opening hours should be open. You should then call the service with the phone next to it - we tried several times - just rang through or it was busy or you should leave a message. Around 12 o'clock we reached someone via this phone, who told us that someone would be there in about 1 hour and the check-in would only be possible from 3 o'clock. So we took a short sightseeing tour in Bad Urach and enjoyed the beautiful marketplace as well as coffee and cake before we met someone at the reception. The reception was short and concise as I said. The hotel category and price would have made us feel a little more welcome.
A trend that has probably prevailed here is the notice in the room that room service only comes every 2 days - unless you wish it more often. Reducing housekeeping to every 2 days is a growing trend in some hotels, often based on sustainability (less laundry, energy, cleaning products). However, according to lt. Test and evaluation portals often lack staff and massive cost savings. Environmental protection often serves as a pretext, while the personnel are burdened by the increased cleaning effort per use. We don't find this pleasant, especially since at just under 200 € per night you can expect a certain service. Since we also had minor problems in the room, but here was also very quick and friendly response and the room was cleaned even after the first night and the used towels were replaced, after which everything was also in good order. Thanks again for that.
Very positive is the free parking directly at the hotel.
In and around Bad Urach there are many certainly beautiful hiking trails. We tested 2 of them and were once at the castle (circular path about 8 km) and once at the two waterfalls (circular path about 16 km). Both were beautiful hikes in the great weather we had, which were not too demanding and yet went beyond a simple walk. We really enjoyed it. Actually we still wanted to visit the thermal baths - but did not do so due to the wonderful weather.

1 star review for Bischoffs Hotel, Bad Urach

Unfortunately a big disappointment in a supposedly 4-star hotel. I was a stranger to the city, my car was in the garage for three hours, and I wanted to bridge the time in the bar/lobby -- just have coffee and work on the laptop.
The new front desk employee absolutely didn't know how to help herself and turned me down with "There's no one around now and I don't know." No service, no helpfulness, just clueless shrugging. I thought that's what hotels were for: Welcoming strangers and doing everything possible to make guests feel comfortable – whether it’s for sleeping or just for a cup of coffee.
That scared me away forever. I wouldn't even come back here for the night. Bad Urach has better alternatives for real hospitality.
