Happy to stay at Hansens again
Very nice house with great hospitality. The staff work very well together and are very accommodating. The breakfast is great, the restaurant is excellent and the reception takes excellent care of you. Holidays here are fun

The rooms not yet renovated are absolutely not recommended
We stayed here for one night and had relied on the good reviews.
What we didn't know: there are renovated and (yet) unrenovated rooms. Unfortunately we got the latter and no possibility of exchange.
Very worn out, exceptionally bad beds (very deep, hard and very loud with the slightest movement) and clearly worn out furniture.
Unfortunately, even for this significantly worse room the same high price was called as for the renovated rooms.
What we didn't know: there are renovated and (yet) unrenovated rooms. Unfortunately we got the latter and no possibility of exchange.

wir danken Ihnen hier für Ihre konstruktive Kritik. Es ist richtig, dass wir im letzten Winter 34 der 71 Hotelzimmer renoviert haben. Dies ist der Flügel Richtung Innenstadt, da wir hier zu einem größten Teil noch Badewannen in den Bädern hatten. Größtenteils befinden sich die noch nicht renovierten Hotelzimmer in einer ruhigeren Lage, haben auch zum Teil den Blick Richtung Kurpark/Zwischenahner Meer. Wir haben Gäste, die diese Einrichtungen sehr schätzen, und expliziet diese Zimmer buchen. So unterschiedlich sind die Geschmäcker.
Wir hoffen auf ein Wiedersehen.

OK for one night, but not a holiday accommodation for me
Location is good, but right by the spa park and not by the "sea" as the name suggests; my room had the charm of the 1990s including a bathtub and old carpet, very good breakfast buffet

In need of a style makeover
I can't say I was overly impressed with this hotel, apart from its location close to the lake and nearby shops. It's quite old fashioned and in need of a more modern image, or a rustic theme. As you come into the reception, there's a strange medieval type dining table and chairs. The patterned wallpaper doesn't complement the mixture of modern artwork for sale on the walls either.
I was staying there with a disabled family member and because the door to the small bar was too narrow for the wheelchair, we were placed in a side room which had all the atmosphere of a railway station waiting room. Having arrived after 9.00 pm, the kitchen was closed and my evening meal had to be a bowl of Bombay Mix.
The rooms are clean, but again very dated. No coffee/tea making facility or bottled water. The mini bar has water, beer and wine for purchase though.
The 'disabled room' my cousin shared with her daughter was positively awful. Small, no room for the wheelchair and walking frame and a view onto a nearby laurel hedge, which made it very dark.
The restaurant is nice, although expensive, and the best views to the lake are from the few tables for two in the 'orangery' area. What we found particularly annoying was the staff had clearly been told to 'look busy at all times' and when they weren't serving, they were whipping off table cloths and laying for breakfast, then changing it back to dinner etc. The breakfast was fine and there was a nice variety of bread and rolls. If you want smoked salmon, you have to ask for it when they're not busy. We were three people and the waitress gave us a coffee pot that would have been just enough for two. Small details, but this hotel is marketed as 4 star - it didn't feel like it.
The hotel wasn't overly busy and on my last day I asked if I could have a later check out (just before 3.00 pm instead of 11.00 am). I was told this was not possible, but I could have it until midday. No help to me at all.
It's not an unpleasant place to stay, but not memorable in any way.

Wir finden es sehr bedauerlich, dass wir Ihren Geschmack bezüglich der Einrichtung nicht getroffen haben. Wir versuchen immer, zeitlos und doch ein wenig peppig oder modern zu sein und zu bleiben.
Wir sind hier alle sehr seelenvoll und damit lebt auch das Haus. Ihre Bewertung spricht hier auch zum Glück dieses aus.
In einigen Hotelzimmern stehen Wasserkocher für Kaffee und Tee bereit. Aufgrund Ihres Hotelzimmerwunsches ist dies allerdings auch gerne jederzeit nachstellbar. Wir erfüllen gerne Wünsche, wenn wir vor Ort dazu Hinweise erhalten haben. Jedes Hotelzimmer verfügt auch über eine Minibar.
Die Loorbeerhecke steht auf der anderen Seite der Terrasse, die sich vor Ihrem Zimmer befunden hat und ist ca. 1m hoch.
Den Hinweis zu unserem Mitarbeitern im Restaurant können wir leider immer noch nicht nachvollziehen. Es tut uns leid! Tischdecken werden natürlich gewechselt, wenn diese "benutzt" wurden. Auch ist ein Tisch mit anderen Besteckteilen, Gläsern und Geschirr einzudecken, wenn die Mahlzeiten von Frühstück auf Mittag- bzw. Abendessen wechseln.
Zu den Tischen, die für 2 Personen vorgesehen sind, gibt es noch weitere 4 Einheiten direkt am Fenster, an denen bis zu 4 Personen Platz finden. Alle sind auch mit einem Rollstuhl anfahrbar.
Vielen Dank für Ihr Lob bezüglich unseres Frühstücksbuffets. In der Woche kommt der Lachs gerne frisch aus der Küche. Wir machen uns stark gegen Lebensmittelverschwendung.
Unser Küchenteam ist gerne für Sie bis 21.00 Uhr tätig bzw. kochen nach Ihren Wünschen, wenn Sie sich bis 21.00 Uhr entschieden haben, was Sie essen möchten. Unsere Speisen sind alle frisch zubereitet. Alternativ bzw. nach 21.00 Uhr bieten wir auch kleine Snacks in unserer Hotelbar an, welche geöffnet war. Da Sie sich in unserer Lüttjen Lounge nicht wohl gefühlt haben, hätten wir Ihnen diese auch gerne an einem Ihnen beliebten Ort serviert.
Das von Ihnen bewohnte Hotelzimmer war an Ihrem Abreisetag wieder fest vermietet. Nur aus diesem Grund war kein späterer Check out möglich. Wir kommen unserem Versprechen nach, die Zimmer bis 14.00 Uhr zur Verfügung zu stellen.

A resort hotel by the lake.
This is a resort hotel in a resort town. Unfortunately, the nearby lake was still closed and will not be opened until April when we visited the town. I imagined that in the summertime this place is beautiful.
