Stayed here for 3 nights July 2025 with my partner. He’d surprised me for my birthday back in March with a trip to Berlin and liked the look of this hotel. Check-in was easy and we received a nice welcome. Up in the room we had everything we needed, a nice clean room all smart and clean lines, blackout curtains and comfortable bed plus welcome lollipops which was a nice touch! The shower and sink is within the room with shower being separated by glass which was fine by us and a toilet separated by a sliding door. It was particularly hot weather in Berlin and the rest of the hotel was a little too warm till eventually windows were opened that helped improve things however the room was fine as the air-con was good. What was also good in the room was a couple of hooks on the wall to hang jackets etc I often think the majority of hotels are missing this however an extra hook at the shower area would be good for towels as the one wasn’t enough. The hotel was quiet of a night allowing for a good nights sleep which we got. We spent a bit of time in spa area upstairs using the hot tub in a sheltered outside area just unfortunate it couldn’t be switched on for the bubbles as it appeared to be broken with no sign of it being fixed whilst we were there. We used steam room and sauna which were a nice touch. The hotel also has a restaurant which we didn’t use. We weren’t sure if this also contained a bar area that could be used we did decide to go take a look one evening however there appeared to be a private event on. We felt the hotels location was a good spot, plenty of restaurants & bars near by including gay bars and close to a metro station. All in all a really good hotel with friendly staff. We loved staying here for our first stay in Berlin. I wouldn’t mind staying at again if me and my partner were to return to Berlin!

Great Location and Atmosphere, but a Few Improvements Needed
Overall, we had a really good stay and enjoyed our trip to Berlin.
The hotel is perfectly situated, with the train station only a short walk away and plenty of bars, restaurants and places to visit nearby. The rooms were great, we enjoyed the overall vibe of the hotel, and generally felt it offered good value for money.
We were disappointed to find out only a few days before our stay that the Jacuzzi area was out of use, as this was something we had been looking forward to.
One of the main issues we experienced was the air-conditioning regularly pumping a strong smell of cigarette smoke into our room. At times it was quite unpleasant and left us both with sore throats, so this is definitely something the hotel needs to investigate.
The continental breakfast could also do with some significant improvement, particularly in terms of choice and overall quality.
That said, the hotel has a good atmosphere, great location and enjoyable vibe, and overall we had a very good stay. With a few improvements, particularly to the ventilation and breakfast, it could be an excellent hotel.

Disappointing
I stayed at the Axel Hotel again after a few years, and the experience fell well short of expectations. The room I was assigned—a suite—had issues with the window fixtures, which wouldn't close properly; at night, it sounded like being right next to a highway. The shower door didn't seal well, causing water to leak out into the bathroom. Overall, the furnishings look worn and tired.
There are hardly any common areas, and the restaurant is under separate management.
The prices are good and the staff is very friendly, but there are much better options in Berlin. I won't be coming back.

Great stay, clean but dated rooms and worn out equipment, but the staff is amazing, friendly, they work and maintain what they have so well. The breakfast buffet, lacks luster in food, pictured advert is misleading, the food is low quality with stale bread, low quality cold cuts and not much to have, however eggs to order and coffee make the breakfast a bit better, but too pricey just for 3 eggs and a coffee. I’d stay again if the room price is low very central, and know not to expect a 4 star stay.

Booking online was quick and seamless, and the entire property is clearly backed by excellent management that genuinely cares about its guests.
Every staff member I met was incredibly warm, welcoming, and accommodating throughout my trip.
It is a well-run hotel with a team that goes above and beyond - highly recommended!
The room is just as spacious as specified on the website, making it both comfortable and satisfying.
Berlin offers a massive variety of year-round activities, and local tourist information is incredibly easy to find.
The area where the hotel is located feels safe.
The hotel is exceptionally walkable, offering quick on-foot access to public transit, shopping, dining, and vibrant nightlife.
Beyond the convenient hotel breakfast, the neighborhood offers an endless variety of restaurants to satisfy any craving.
