Grimm's Hotel Mitte: A Mixed Stay Between Calm and Lack of WarmthI stayed
I stayed at Grimm's Hotel Mitte from 16 to 21 July, attracted by its location on the edge of Mitte and Kreuzberg and its particularity facing the old route of the Berlin Wall.
On the positive side, the hotel is clean, the room and bedding are of good quality, guaranteeing a pleasant rest. Breakfast, although "maximalistic", was good, although a little more variety and generosity would be appreciated. The proximity to the Spittelmarkt metro (line U2) is an undeniable asset, as is the M29 bus which runs directly to Checkpoint Charlie.
However, the experience was tarnished by a rather cold Welcoming, lacking the warmth that one would expect for a first impression of Berlin. It is unfortunate that staff do not take the initiative to inform about public transport or the attractions of the city, leaving the impression that everything must be asked for. An effort on Welcoming, including the ability to speak French and "sell" Berlin, would be a huge plus.
The neighborhood, although very quiet and residential, may seem a little too soulless. For a future stay, I would probably prefer a more lively area, perhaps towards the west of the city, unless I specifically seek absolute tranquility.
In short, Grimm’s Hotel Mitte is a clean and comfortable place to rest, but it would greatly benefit from improving its Customer Service and injecting a little more life and information about its great city.
Grimm's Hotel Mitte: A Mixed Stay Between Calm and Lack of Warmth
I stayed at the Grimm's Hotel Mitte from July 16th to 21st, drawn by its location on the border of Mitte and Kreuzberg and its unique position facing the former route of the Berlin Wall.
On the positive side, the hotel is clean, and the room and bedding are of good quality, ensuring a pleasant rest. The breakfast, although "maximalist," was good, even if a bit more variety and generosity would be appreciated. The proximity to the Spittelmarkt metro station (U2 line) is an undeniable asset, as is the M29 bus that directly serves Checkpoint Charlie.
However, the experience was marred by a rather cold welcome, lacking the warmth one expects for a first impression of Berlin. It's unfortunate that the staff doesn't take the initiative to provide information on public transport or the city's attractions, leaving the impression that you have to ask for everything. An effort on the welcome, including the ability to speak French and "sell" Berlin, would be a huge plus.
The neighborhood, though very calm and residential, can seem a bit too soulless. For a future stay, I would probably opt for a livelier area, perhaps towards the west of the city, unless specifically seeking absolute tranquility.
In summary, Grimm's Hotel Mitte is a clean and comfortable establishment for rest, but it would greatly benefit from improving its Customer Service and injecting a bit more life and information about its wonderful city.

Basic Hotel
Pros:
- Location, within walking distance to major attractions
Cons:
- Room: Dated, with no fridge nor coffee maker (junior suite)
- Breakfast: Lacking, with a few dishes that are not replenished
- Facilities: Nothing to do at the hotel, not even a gym

Not quite happy ...
We experienced in the 3 days we stayed at the hotel only very friendly and helpful staff. Our room - a small “suite” - was fine and cozy. It is really good, to many sights it is only a few 100 meters and also a subway station is easily accessible. There are many and very different restaurants around the hotel.
But there are also a few shortcomings, all of them not a major problem in themselves, but together they result in a rating of “only” 3 points. It is or was not recognisable to us from the website that the hotel - in contrast to the sister business at Potsdamer Platz - has no restaurant and no bar. Well, we might have had to recognize that ourselves, but even a second look at the website did not provide us with any clarity. Also, it is not really nice if there are 2 TVs in the room, but neither receives a program. The same applies to the phone or the in-room infopad.
We also chose this Grimm’s because we knew the hotel of the same group on Potsdamer Platz. There: a great breakfast, nice bar on the roof ... here: only small buffet, which unfortunately does not match the selection at Potsdamer Platz and the breakfast room does not really have a cozy charisma.
The review now sounds a little more negative than planned, overall the hotel is absolutely okay, but ...
... our tip: book Grimm’s at Potsdamer Platz, it’s just one category nicer.
