Nice stopover on our Danube bike tour

We received a very friendly welcome. The bikes were stored in the bike shed. The room (No. 12) was tip top. The menu in the restaurant was simple, but the food was very good. All in all, a good stop on our tour from Lake Constance to Würzburg.

A bad hotel

We were in Beuren with the red speeder, wanted to eat well we thought we would go to the Hotel Pelikan. We had to sit three of us at different tables. Then we could order drinks, then wait for Längerm we could also order a meal. After a few questions about when our food will arrive, we decided to cancel the meal after 2 1/2 hours. The kitchen didn't manage to get the food out little by little. The service was a nice and super person. She couldn't help us leaving without food. It was a great bust, though.

Pride prices for a cafe on the pilgrimage trail

Note: Comment refers exclusively to the cafe, NOT to the hotel.
For a large bottle of water Euro 6,50 (Stand: April 2025), I find the situation ambitious to say the least. But perhaps the explanation of the proud price level lies precisely in the location on the Danube cycle path. Anyway, let's say: The location is of course fantastic and compensates for the element of surprise when looking at the food and drink menu.

Unrelaxed, no restaurant level, lack of service, disappointment.

Since new tenant unfortunately unpleasant service, unfriendly, overwhelmed, before you are at the table (even with empty guest room) you have to say if you want cake or food. Always girlfriends of the "landlady" are sitting in the guest room and you have a loud conversation in front of the guests, often about level topics and gossip from the other restaurants of the owner (?), that goes in a food stall, inappropriate in a restaurant.
Alternatively, you are asked by young counter staff every 2 minutes if you want to order anything else, you can not have a conversation, because it is constantly disturbed, but it only brings drinks, if you want to eat something else, you have to address the other again-a mess!
Food tested several times at snack level, fried previously deadbeat schnitzel, salty fries, no sauce but snack portions of ketchup and mayo get banged, other dishes around 30 E also not worth their money, cooking point missed, strange decoration combos (lemon to steak, schnitzel / fish for it without) payment by card only possible at counter, because always some device does not work right now or the landlady is too lazy.
If adjoining rooms are reserved, you are advised in advance that you should not come then, as they would have SO MUCH to do there. Children are a problem, too.
And all this with a very small card♂♂️ Prices salted for it.
So going out for a relaxed and good meal is unfortunately no longer possible in the Pelican.
Too bad, very bad, many had hoped to have a regular meeting place there again. The case was deep, very deep.
The owner should run 1 restaurant really well, instead of getting so bogged down and employing unsuitable staff who will then tell you stories about it
We have experienced this several times now and wanted to give it a chance, but no improvement is noticeable. How this is supposed to work in the summer, when it gets fuller, I don't know, they're already in stress with three tables.

Delicious Swabian cuisine
When we stopped for lunch we were able to enjoy fresh, very aromatic cuisine. We have rarely eaten such delicious Maultaschen. The simple daily meal was excellent. Good, friendly service, small menu.
