My two week annual stay report.
For many years, my wife and I have driven from the UK to the Rheinhotel Dreesen. They have a secure underground car park, which is important to me. We keep going simply because it fits perfectly with our preference and need for a relaxing few weeks away from everyday stresses and to return home happy and contented.
Over the years we've been going, we've got to know some of the hotel personnel quite well, who have always been kindness itself to us and nothing has ever been too much trouble for them.
The hotel is professionally run, providing accommodation and unparallel facilities for business functions without losing the personal touch for single couples and larger parties. The rooms, meals and other facilities are as good as they look in their website. Their Biergarten is great for a quick cheap lunch or for just a beer while watching the boats go by.
On a minor downside for a two week stay, I found the absence of English television channels disappointing, but I overcame that limitation by streaming from my laptop, after getting their permission of course.
The hotel sits on the banks of the Rhein with a cycle path and pedestrian walkways below the hotel room balconies. I find the passage of the Rhein barges fascinating. To call them barges seems an injustice, they are huge in comparison to Thames barges. There's lots of other fascinating activities and things to do in the location.
My comments may appear over effusive but I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. I have absolutely no other connection to them except as a more than satisfied customer.

Lots of light, but also lots of shade.
Hotel Dreesen is an impressive house with a long history. I was there with two friends, and we had lunch. The restaurant is very tasteful, and the view from the windows is beautiful. The restaurant was weakly attended, and the lunch menu was very short, we ate all three veal schnitzels with asparagus, not perfect but acceptable. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
But: I had asked before the reservation if the hotel was barrier-free.
The answer: This is not directly the case, but they can help me with access and would also reserve me a room with a toilet.
However, this proved to be a disaster. We were helped when the wheelchair was brought into the hotel. But the reserved room was on the fourth floor, accessible by a small lift into which the wheelchair just barely fit. The room was by no means close, so we had to roll along a longer hallway.
The toilet was then a disaster. She wasn't handicapped accessible at all. The bowl was far too deep, there were no handles. A normal handicapped person would have been totally thrown up here. He wouldn't have come down from the toilet. Thank God we had a seat raise and a support frame with us so I could use the toilet. It is not at all understandable to me why a top hotel like the Dreesen does not equip at least one room with such equipment that together cost less than €100.
And that would also be helpful if you didn't exactly provide a room that is so far from the restaurant.

LEGENDARY
LADIES LUNCH IN A LEGEND
On Thursday, April 23, 2026, our Ladies Lunch took place at the Hotel Dreesen am Rhein.
In the best imperial weather and a fantastic view of Petersberg, our international ladies group was welcomed with 25 ladies in the lovingly covered restaurant “Gobelin”.
Our menu was sensational in taste and the wine from the Pieper winery opposite was perfectly chilled. We were accompanied by Mr. Ben-Mansour plus team, who cared for the spoiled ladies very carefully.
To top it off, the landlord Fritz Dreesen gave us an insight into the long history of the house.
The planning that took place in advance with Mr. Weber was absolutely customer-oriented.
No wishes or questions remained unanswered.
Extremely satisfied we said goodbye with the planning and booking for upcoming weekends, which we will very much like to spend here in this beautiful house in the Middle Rhine Valley.

Lovely, beautifully located hotel with excellent service!
We had actually chosen this hotel because we had seen the film on German TV. The 3 night stay was really lovely. Nice room, excellent dinners and extremely pleasant service.
