Time travel to the 90s – clean, friendly, but not reasonable value for money

My stay at Ramada by Wyndham Bottrop was disappointing overall. The rooms seem like an unwanted journey through time to the 1990s: barren, cool-looking furnishings, no decoration whatsoever and absolutely no feel-good ambience. There is neither a welcome water nor an electric kettle or other small amenities that are standard nowadays even in simpler hotels.
On the positive side, the room was clean and tidy and the staff was consistently friendly. Unfortunately, this alone is not enough to compensate for the stay.
Particularly irritating: The bathroom, with its bright lighting, looks more like an operating room than a place to relax. In addition, escape routes are apparently used in the morning to ventilate corridors and rooms – I have not experienced anything like this in a hotel and find it very strange.
Given the obsolete equipment, the value for money is in no way justified.
All in all, I can not recommend this hotel.

Outstanding People Keep Me Coming Back for 25+ Years

I rated my stay 10/10 because of the people. The team here consistently makes the experience outstanding. In particular, Asia at reception is always welcoming, professional, and helpful. I would also like to recognize the chef and the ladies at the restaurant for their great service and friendliness.
I have been staying at this hotel for more than 25 years, and what really stands out is the consistency - many of the same people, the same positive attitude, and the same level of professionalism. This is exactly what keeps me coming back.
At the same time, I believe the hotel itself would benefit from some room upgrades and general renovation. Improving the physical condition would match the excellent level of service provided by the team.
Thank you again to everyone for making each stay enjoyable.

I have stayed at the Ramada several times over the years due to this hotel being the only centrally located in town . It has deteriorated quite a bit. Elevator to the 3rd floor ends in an untidy, dirty broom and supplies closet. (All 3 nights we were there.) The bar is no longer in operation. Dust in one of our rooms and the fridge is missing leaving a hole. No coffee in rooms. Bottrop should be able to do better.
