Exceptional hotel in an excellent location!
The Lutherhotel is perfectly situated to be at the market square (access to almost all sights) in just a few minutes' walk and to be "back home" as quickly as possible after a walk down from the Wartburg.
From Friday at 3 PM through Sunday, the parking spaces directly in front of the accommodation are free of charge, there is free and unlimited water in the room, and anyone who declines daily room cleaning and hangs the small room bag on the door receives a corresponding sweet treat in return. That is a very nice gesture!
The breakfast is rich, with a considerable selection (organic!), freshly prepared dishes upon request (e.g., waffles or omelets), and dinner becomes a unique experience if you embrace the charm and, of course, bring a basic liking or interest in the era, the costumes, the medieval furnishings, and the drinks (mead!). The selection of dishes offered is also huge and impressive in its quality. Anyone who complains here is clearly looking for a needle in a haystack.
The shortcomings of our stay were two things:
1. Our room, which was located directly under the roof. There was no air conditioning or even an elevator, meaning there were numerous stairs to climb (quite difficult with a lot of luggage) and the air was stagnant the entire time in the room (ventilation was useless because there was no draft).
2. The bed was a disaster. It creaked and rattled with every little movement, and I am sure that the noise could even be heard in the room below us. One of our mattresses was also so worn out that you could feel every slat of the bed frame. Sleep was therefore out of the question because you got back pain within a few minutes. On the second night, we squeezed onto one mattress together - the hotel REALLY needs to take action here urgently. For older people (and anyone else who just wants to sleep), this is an unacceptable situation!
All in all, we were still absolutely thrilled and will definitely come back if our path leads us to Eisenach again - but we will insist on a room change if we are assigned this room again.

In our room there was black mold in the shower, rust on the struts and water stains below the 'mini sink'.
The room is very small, a place for the suitcases difficult to find.
The stuffy air throughout the hotel was unbearable.
Access to the rooms is via a very narrow staircase, past the information desk, which has not undergone a refreshment with paint or thorough cleaning for years.
The way to the underground car park is through a room where the employees have your smoking corner, very welcoming and digestible. On the further footpath, was not cleaned even over a longer period, flowers had already dried up there.
The wooden tables at breakfast, obviously were not cleaned with a damp wipe for a long period of time.
Cleaning and cleanliness, just falls short in this hotel.
For our booked 3-course candlelight dinner, there was such bad air, we would have liked to get up and go. In a mail about my wishes for this evening 2 things were desired, a bouquet, that was right.
In the second wish, it was announced that my wife should not be served an alcoholic beverage. This hint was flatly ignored, on the contrary, we got a plum schnapps and a glass of sparkling wine, which we had not ordered ourselves.
The coronation, it was also charged to us.
This hotel is by far the worst 4 star hotel we have booked in Germany in the last 10 years.
