Nice Harz Weekend

We had a nice weekend in May at this Harz property. It is a simple but good a hotel. The owner and staff were very accommodating and bent over backwards to insure that we were looked after. The town of Rubeland is a few kilometers from Wernigrode. One of the things I like most was that it probably is reminiscent of old Saxony. The map outside our room showed the inner German Border and in the bottom corner (albeit covered) was the label "DDR". If you are looking for simple, large, clean accommodations this is a nice choice. We had half board and the dinners were both filling and very good. While we were the only English speaking guests, the owner insured we were taken care of and despite an obvious language barrier it did not both the proprietor caring for us and us having a good stay. The property is good value for money.

Not welcome and insufficient

A very old house. I looked at pictures before and booked accordingly. When I got there I thought I'd meet the punch. A very dirty house from outside. Not inviting. I first had to call the landlord that he came to open the door for me, check in was not as well as I know it. I was given the key and that was it. Then I went into the room. The heating didn't work at all and the room took hours to warm up. The room smelled like fabric softener. The windows were broken and leaking and the furniture was worn off and dirty. Thank God I only booked for one night. Breakfast I denied because the atmosphere was not welcoming and 83 euros a night never again.

Super nette Bewirtung und für alle Wünsche offen

Es waren 4 super tolle, erlebnisreiche und lustige Tage und 3 Nächte mit meiner Freundin in Rübeland. Das Zimmer war sauber, angenehm groß und funktional ausgestattet. In den Betten haben wir super schlafen können. Das Haus ist zwar sehr alt, aber eben doch geräumig und wie schon beschrieben, funktional eingerichtet. Das Frühstück war ausreichend und für jeden Geschmack etwas vorhanden. Wir hätten auch Wünsche äußern können zu unserem Frühstück. Die Unterkunft war sehr Zentral für uns gelegen, da wir alle Unternehmungen zu Fuß und mit dem Bus, den wir durch das Ticketheft kostenfrei nutzten, machen konnten. Mein Highlight war der Rutschflug bei Harzdrainaline. Damit konnte ich (64) etwas von meiner noch "TO DO" Liste streichen. Wir können die Unterkunft Hermannshöhle mit gutem Gewissen empfehlen, denn wir brauchen KEIN 5* Hotel ;-). Uns reicht eine nette Bewirtung, ein sauberes Zimmer, saubere, bequeme Betten und ein leckeres Frühstück. So können wir dann in unsere Unternehmungen für den ganzen Tag starten.

Prijs-kwaliteit prima in orde

10 jaar geleden al eens geweest en wilde het weer terugzien. Het is geen 5 sterren hotel, maar het ademt een bepaalde DDR sfeer uit die ons rust gaf. Ja, het is verouderd, maar het eigenaren echtpaar doet zijn uiterste best om het je naar de zin te maken en dat is gelukt. Mijn 2 kinderen (11 en 13) die mee waren hebben het een heerlijke basis gevonden voor onze uitstapjes in de omgeving.

Wanderhotel für eine Nacht

Auf unserer Hexenstieg ‍♀️ Wanderung haben wir hier eine Nacht verbracht. Unser Zimmer war groß, sauber und funktionell. Das Hotel hat Schwarm und Flair aus DDR Zeiten behalten - interessant!
Unser Hund war willkommen ! Vielen Dank!
