Gist..

Nice, clean room and bathroom. Good beds and even a balcony. For this price it's the best you can get and more! See you again someday! To fully enhance the experience go to the restaurant Kleine Mollhoff a 100 meters from this hotel. Really nice food there

Pleasant B&B, though not quite as amazing as the ratings indicate

This is a pleasant B&B. Filling continental breakfast buffet (though if you arrive late, you may not have many choices). Owner friendly and helpful. Clean and large rooms with lots of natural light, large bathroom. Convenient for train from central station, though tram was down while I was visiting (replacement bus only). 5-8 minutes walk to a large Aldi.
Recommend checking the tram/train/bus schedules if you'll be out at night, as public transport after 10pm is very infrequent until midnight (and then stops).
Not really a non-smoking property, as there is a smoking room on the first floor - the door is often left open (I think by the staff), so there is a strong smell of smoke in hallways and landings, and smoke also seeps into rooms under the doors.
Located on a busy road, but right in front of bus/tram stop. Property is still quiet despite location. No hairdryer in bathrooms (though booking.com listed this as included) and some of the towels smelled a bit damp.
Booking.com stated check-out time as 11am (which is one of the reasons I booked the property). However, on my final day, two cleaning ladies came to my room at 10:40am demanding that I leave immediately so they could clean the room.
Not possible to walk to city centre from the B&B, and it is on the opposite side of the wider Essen-area from key sights (like Kettwig, Essen-Werden, and Villa Hugel). Not an issue if you have a car, but time-consuming and inconvenient if you're relying on public transport. Essen city centre is unpleasant - not worth a visit on its own.
I didn't have a bad stay here, but I don't know that I would stay again.

Basic, clean and friendly

Was a clean room and basic which is exactly what I wanted. Situated in a quiet suburb. Nice bar and restaurant just down the road. Everyone seems to be really friendly despite my lack of any German language skills. I was going to a concert with my brother in law so a bed for the night was all we were looking for. If you're in need of lots of extras then this isn't for you. If you want clean friendly and basic, this fits perfectly.

Buona notte @ Bonna Notte

We had a pleasant stay at Bonna Notte. The host Marcus was very helpful and got us without asking some extra (fresh) bread where he could have said we're out. Our large familyroom was charged as a cheaper doubleroom. It was clean and well maintained. We came in late at night and got the access code. We also received a call around our planned check-in-time asking if all was good and well. Nice touch. Free ample parking was available close by, on the side street @ The location is not that far from Bottrop / WB Movieworld. Excellent value for money.

Nice and quaint - if you could eliminate the smoking it'd five stars!

We stayed here for three nights while waiting for our apartment furnishings to be delivered. It's an ugly frontage- but we had a nice balcony ( the only one in the complex, unit 3) that faced the rear. So it suited us well. They provided a crib and crib sheets. We were comfortable - but for the cigarette smell everywhere.
