Just right for overnight stop

We stayed here for a night to break a long drive across Europe to the former East Germany, and picked this hotel as it’s convenient for one of the main autobahns. It is tucked away on a residential street but there was no parking restriction and we were able to park right outside free of charge. The room was small but perfectly clean, the staff attentive and friendly. There was a private party going on downstairs but the soundproofing was surprisingly good and we weren’t bothered by any noise. We ate at the hotel and the food was fine. Nice variety at the breakfast and the little courtyard was open so we could have breakfast outdoors. Would certainly use again.

Expensive and Unreliable

This used to be a nice friendly and cheap hotel.
However, they are now under new management.
The hotel itself is fine, with nice beds and clean rooms.
However prices are aparently variable by the day and hour, If you book for 4 days you may pay E 149 a night, for a total of E 600. Another person arriving 2 days later payed E40 for the same last 2 nights. Additionally, prices from booking in advance (through their own website) are not honoured.
Staff is young and inexperienced, and will not make decisions without consulting the owner, who is never available to speak to directly and apparently does not speak English.
All in all a terrible experience and the feeling of being scammed.

Rude ignorant staff for starters

Got there last night to be told my room didn't have a toilet, then went downstairs to get a beer and a possible bite to eat when a Chinese looking guy was so rude and disrespectful so went out to find a place only to see that there wasnt anywhere open bar a Turkish social cafe who were so damn rude I just walked away, got back to the hotel only to be greeted by the same rude jerk I experienced 40 minutes earlier, people say you get what you pay for but I felt like asking for my money back and sleep at the train station that's how much my piss was boiling, will never visit Essen again if I can help it, a horrible town with majority of it's people have no manners, if I could give this a zero I would

Really disappointing

Went here for 3 nights on a business trip. Thought of leaving after the first night. Due to lack of opportunities, I stayed. The rooms are very small and very low standard. Shower is small. But worst of all, smoke detector lying deactivated on the wardrobe without a battery. A dead bug at the wall. A hair in the shower from previous guest and dust on the shower curtain. I will not come here again.

Very Good Budget Family run German Hotel

The Staff is very helpful and friendly, even though all do not speak English, they are very courteous. The Breakfast is normal German fare, which is strange to most people in the U.S. but I am used to it. When I was there they had an outside grille running for dinner, which was tasty.
