Cheap and friendly
Prices of this hostel are very cheap. We got a room for 2 as opposed to a further shared room which is even cheaper. Shared toilets and showers but they are all private. Nobody is going to walk in on you on the toilet or shower. All doors have locks. Very nice common area with good cheap selection of food and drinks. Staff were very friendly. Good working lift. Breakfast looked ok. Room was very warm. You have to hire sheets and towels. Be warned. It’s in the heart of the red light area which is super grotty and run down and full of very dodgy people. Most are high but harmless but if this is a thing you would rather avoid, when you book the hostel they let you know immediately. Money wise it’s fantastic. Not luxury or anything remotely like luxury but very well run and not run down. Your feel safe despite the outside. For one or two nights on a budget it’s great value. 5 mins walk from the train station.

Good hostel, bad street
Location is good as it is down the road from the main station (Frankfurt hbf). It is located in the red light district. Street was full of some interesting characters all hours of the day, but especially at night. Good spot if you’re doing day trips but probably not if you’re wanting to see Frankfurt. Despite this, the actual hostel was good - friendly/helpful staff members, they make it feel safe considering what the outside is like. There is no AC though so the room gets quite hot

Very disappointing experience
I had an extremely negative experience at the 5Elements Hostel in Frankfurt on April 20, 2026 at around 6:00 pm.
Without prior reservation, I inquired at the reception about a place to stay. Initially I was informed that only private rooms were available. Only after renewed demand did it turn out that sleeping capsules were free. This contradictory approach already seemed unprofessional.
Later, I was asked to wait about 20 minutes, but without clear justification. Instead, I was sent to the lounge area with a dismissive gesture. During the waiting period, I had the impression that the employees were not concerned with my concern, but were busy elsewhere.
When I asked to speak to a responsible person, I was told in an inappropriate tone that this was not possible until the next day. Particularly negative was the behaviour of an employee who behaved very rudely, disrespectfully and sometimes aggressively. Gesturing movements right in front of my face and saying that she didn't care about possible consequences, I found absolutely unacceptable.
In addition, I was later even accused of behaving aggressively and threatened to call security forces – even though I was simply trying to clarify my concern.
The condition of the premises was also disappointing. Visible water residues and an overall unkempt impression cast doubt on hygiene standards.
Overall, this was a very uncomfortable experience. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hostel due to the poor customer service and lack of professionalism and hope that improvements will be made here urgently.

The budget clients were courteous, but the staff seemed overly eager to suspect everyone of trying to pull a fast one somehow

The staff was great, but the rooms were terrible odor was emitting from these rooms I don’t think I’ll ever go back to this place. It’s disgusting.
