A pleasant enough stay. We weren’t there long and it was clean and seemed to have all we needed but was a bit soulless.
The air con was ‘sustainable’ and as it was very hot struggled.
Room and bathroom were good size but it just didn’t have any character

Historic hotel that fails to meet the standards of its category.

I have often stayed in this hotel, but I must say it has deteriorated quite a bit over the years.
In the meantime, after an initial inspection, I had to have my room changed; too much dust. The receptionist upgraded me at the same price, and I slept in a spacious room with shutters and air conditioning, in the newer part of the hotel. I dined at the restaurant; nothing special, and only after dinner did I open the wardrobe, discovering that the previous guest had forgotten underwear and socks in it! As one can imagine, this affects the rating... two unclean rooms out of two is no longer an isolated incident....

This hotel fully lives up to its four-star standard. It is an elegant house with efficient and very friendly staff. Rooms are spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The free parking is also a big plus. Highly recommended.

Relaxed stay in a nice atmosphere in Freiburg im Breisgau

We were in transit and had booked a triple room for us plus our cat. The house is very nice; we were very pleased that the room was spacious and also had a balcony. Unfortunately we were there in the cold season, but I used the garden with our cat, and in the summer this must be very nice. The sauna area we also liked very much. Great that there is not only a garage, but also an on-site parking for guests.
Both at the reception and in the restaurant everyone was very professional, friendly and nice. We had dinner - regional cuisine - and everything tasted very good. The house wine was excellent (I had ordered a red wine), and my husband was delighted with a very aromatic beer.
Breakfast was perfect: Fruit salad from fresh fruit (and tasty, very good quality of fruit), pastries and bread great, a great selection of cheese and cold cuts, and also for vegans there was a lot, starting from the oat milk to vegan spread to oat milk yogurt.
Cleanliness is also always very important, and everything fit there.
The location is great if you arrive by car; good to drive from the highway, and to the center it is only about four kilometers. You can easily get in to Freiburg by public transport; the bus stop is just a few meters from the hotel.
