Relaxing Long Weekend in Garmisch
The restaurant serves three meals per day. The adults only spa is wonderful, with an outdoor infinity pool. We booked an Alpine Soa suite with our own sauna and a view of the Alpsitze and Waxenstein range.
Underground parking is convenient.
Overall, our stay was very relaxing. High points include housekeeping, the spa, and lunch. The BBQ night was a treat as well. Breakfast could get crowded at the buffet and the dinner service was a little uneven. I’d certainly stay at the Obermuhle again, but would look for more at the start and end of the day.

The feeling of being a number
Positive points:
Large room with terrace and A/C
Board with lunch included, mention for the homemade ice creams
Well located in Garmisch Partenkirchen
Shuttle available with access to different sites (thanks to the 3 friendly drivers)
2 swimming pools and hot tubs
Wellness area 1 with textiles and one without
Alpine spa reserved for adults
Good quality massages
Mini golf and game room
Negative points
Hotel across 3 buildings connected by underground corridors. A real maze!
A majority of the staff only speaks English, so communication is limited
Meal good but nothing more. Gastronomic presentation but the taste is not there
The cheese buffet is certainly very well stocked, but many cheeses are dried out because they were cut in advance.
This hotel seems ideal to us if you have children because it has many adapted facilities.
However, avoid it if you are looking for quiet because, while there is a spa area dedicated to adults, the restaurant is noisy.

Yes, I would recommend the hotel to anyone, including families with children!
Our stay at Spa Alpin was overall very relaxing, and we would generally come back. The facility, the ambiance, and the wellness offerings convinced us.
Unfortunately, there is a significant downside for the reception staff, which is why we are deducting two stars overall.
The stay began anything but pleasantly:
I had booked an executive double room, assuming that it was located in the new building. Since I had read some reviews beforehand, I wanted to be sure and called the hotel hotline on the day of arrival. The service employee explicitly confirmed to me that our room is in the new building.
The disappointment upon arrival was therefore even greater: Our room was not in the new building, but merely on a newly renovated floor in the old building. To be honest, I felt quite deceived.
I then sought out the employee I had spoken with on the phone. Initially, I was kindly informed that this room category does not exist in the new building at all. However, I did not receive a satisfactory answer to my legitimate question about why this was not transparently evident at the time of booking. I did not choose the hotel because of the room category, but specifically because of the heavily advertised new building. If this had been clearly communicated, I would have definitely booked a different room category.
Unfortunately, the employee became unfriendly and seemed annoyed as the conversation progressed. He explained that nothing could be changed anymore and abruptly ended the conversation by stating that he had "no more time." Only after my partner inquired what was more important at that moment than attending to guests did the staff member respond kindly again and offer us drink vouchers.
We consciously did not accept these, as we were not seeking material compensation, but rather transparency and respectful treatment.
To share our impressions during the stay, I would also like to include a few pictures:
The food was consistently very delicious – fresh, varied, and of high quality. We would especially like to highlight the "Fit & Moor" massage that we booked – it was the perfect conclusion after a long hike.
The spa area also positively surprised us: The staff members were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The pool, sauna, and relaxation areas were always clean and well-maintained. Overall, the entire establishment – from furniture to walls, ceilings, and floors – appears very high quality.
We particularly enjoyed dining in the former farmhouse parlor. This room was lovingly renovated with great attention to detail and has a special history: There, the owner used to do homework with his grandmother, and it served as a meeting place for the whole family – this gives the room a very special atmosphere.
A small point of criticism: The orchids in the foyer and some other plants are unfortunately artificial – real plants would significantly enhance the overall picture here.
There is also potential for technical improvement: Wi-Fi is only available through a hotspot, which is rather unsuitable for guests who may want to work remotely. The televisions also do not offer modern streaming options – only traditional TV reception is possible.
However, when considering the owner's vision, it becomes clear that a place is intentionally being created where one can leave work, hustle, and media behind – I can certainly understand and appreciate this approach.
Regarding the kitchen service staff: It mainly involves young people from various countries, some of whom do not speak good German or fluent English. It is worth highlighting that they work very quietly and unobtrusively – we never felt disturbed at any time. However, it was also noticeable that there is a lack of experience or training. Especially during dinner with multiple courses, it happened more frequently that used dishes were not cleared away or left behind. Drinks were also sometimes simply placed down without any comment.
Yes, I would recommend the hotel to anyone, including families with children!
