Center of town and very comfortable

Very nice hotel right in the center of Gengenbach. Very clean and comfortable. We were there for the Christmas markets and the hotel is in the middle of the market. We had a lovely room facing the road and could see the street and main square from our room. The breakfast was very nice and we also were able to have dinner in the restaurant which was also very good. Altogether a wonderful experience!

Pleasant hotel, tastefully renovated

The sun is centrally located, the rooms are well equipped, modernized and nothing is missing. The service is very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is very good. Absolutely recommended, gladly again at any time!

Excellent stay

This is a family-run hotel and restaurant and the staff are lovely. There are some older rooms and some rooms in newer wings - I stayed in a newer room and it was very nicely fitted and looked quite modern (though the TV in my room was very small). I stayed here during the off season - there were very few guests - and received a nice upgrade.
The included breakfast was a continental breakfast which was pretty decent although the selection is quite modest if you're staying for a few days. Everyone has an allocated table at breakfast so there's no worry about finding a space.
One of the great things about staying in a place like this in Gengenbach instead of Offenburg or Freiburg is that you get a Konus card when checking in, and that entitles you to free public transport through the Black Forest for the duration of your stay - look it up on Google.

Lovely Hotel with Lovely Staffs.

Nice hotel with friendly staffs. The room is clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. All the ladies were extremely friendly and professional. We also had dinner and drinks in the hotel and they were good. We will definitely return when we visit our family next time.

Very clean, central and friendly

We stayed one night here at Hotel Sonne. It is very pleasant and central, right on the main street. The room was very comfortable and had a lovely shower. The only downside was that, in this old town, parking with a large car is very difficult. We were too late to eat in the restaurant but the breakfast was ample and they catered for my vegan husband.
