A visit that was worth it, we will come back

The restaurant with attached hotel is suitable for all purposes. The restaurant is nicely decorated. The service very friendly and attentive. The food is very good at a reasonable price. In fine weather, the outdoor area in front of the restaurant can be used.
The hotel rooms are nice and large. Very clean, great, large bathroom with ample storage space, good breakfast. At night it is quiet as it is located two cross roads away from the main road.
Price / performance ratio ok.

Comfortable Stay with Excellent Food

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Alte Schmiede. The rooms are spacious, modern, and comfortably furnished. The bathroom is also modern, a good size, and everything – both room and bathroom – was spotless and in excellent condition.
One thing I missed was a fridge, kettle or coffee machine in the room.
The restaurant serves traditional Swabian dishes, and the food was excellent. The service was friendly, attentive, and very professional.
The only inconvenience is the parking situation, which can be a bit challenging.
Overall, the value for money is very good, and I would be happy to return.

Wunderbar !!

Well, this place was awesome, perfect!
Hotel restaurant was fabulous, popular.
Room was as good as any I’ve had for a space this size.
Beer service until nearly midnight. Breakfast extra. English at the desk.
No A/C is common here, but my room had a balcony w/ door, left it open all night.
It’s quiet at night.
Except the church bells, but I loved the sound.
Make a reservation, you can’t drive up and hope for a room.

Superb

The bedroom was lovely, very spacious and the same with the bathroom. Both rooms were spotless. The food in the restaurant was very good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Can't wait to visit again.

Nice new hotel with massive rooms, but difficult to sleep

I was going to give this hotel a great review when I arrived there and saw how nice everything looks. But then I tried to sleep there. The hotel is right next to the town church. The church bells ring every hour (3 times the number of the hour, so 7 O'clock gets 21 rings. This in itself is a charming European thing that I do not mind at all, but the fact that the rooms do not have air conditioning and you need to sleep with the windows open for it to not become a sauna inside, means that you hear church bells ring all night long (yes, also in the middle of the night) plus at 15 minute intervals between the hour. So the result is that although everything else at this hotel was really nice, I did not have a good nights rest and had to face a work day with hardly any sleep.
On the plus side, I can say that the rooms are massive and so extremely spacious as I have not seen anywhere else in Europe. It is clean, modern and comfortable. The breakfast could have a better selection, had only the basics. The staff was friendly and the wifi worked well.
