The staff are very friendly, particularly I should thank the front desk clerk Ganjou (I hope I’m spelling his name right). He was super helpful and supportive.

★☆☆☆☆ – No 3-star level – Disappointing stay with significant shortcomings

We booked two rooms at Hotel Denbu (one single room about 8–10 m2 and one double room about 17–22 m2) and were very unhappy with the stay overall. The hotel advertises a “charming and quiet airport hotel” as well as free parking – unfortunately these statements do not match our experience.
Rooms & facilities
Our rooms were located in the basement, accessible only via an elevator that stopped in an area full of laundry trolleys. Access was via an unsigned metal door, no indication that our guest rooms should be located there. The basement rooms had small, barely exposing windows and thus seemed gloomy and unfriendly.
The single room was tiny (about 8–10 m2), with no bedside table or bedside shelf. The heating did not work, instead an oil radiator was standing directly on a carpet that was dangerously heated, a worrying safety situation as the carpet became very hot.
In the double room it was a bit more spacious.
In both rooms there were no basic amenities:
• no hairdryer
• No refrigerator
• no beverage offer
• No coffee or tea making facilities
• no telephone for internal or external communication
Cleanliness left much to be desired in both rooms: dirty carpet and dirty curtains. The whole thing was also not allergy-friendly.
Breakfast & gastronomy
The breakfast was extremely spartan and in no way worthy of that of a 3-star hotel. Even more annoying: Although it was included at the time of booking, it was billed retrospectively. Lactose-free milk was not available, the choice was generally very limited, even the snack next door would have offered more.
The restaurant mentioned on the website was temporarily closed, so there was no possibility of dinner on site.
Location & volume
The hotel advertises a “quiet location” but is located in a direct flight path of Hamburg Airport. The planes flew so low over the building that you almost felt like you could touch them. It was correspondingly loud. There is definitely no quiet location here.
Personnel, service & invoice:
The staff often seemed overwhelmed during our stay and simply not adequately trained in many situations.
It was particularly irritating that communication depended heavily on the time, day of the week, phase of the moon and possibly also on the weather. Sometimes you were understood, sometimes you weren't. The staff’s knowledge of German varied noticeably, which certainly brought a certain dynamic to the service experience, although not in the interest of guests. A service concept that is certainly unique.
Concerns such as the faulty invoice, which was only issued on request and in the wrong name or questions about the equipment could not be answered satisfactorily. Unfortunately, there was hardly any evidence of solution competence. An apology? Misrepresentation! Customer orientation also seems to be a foreign word here and therefore not on offer either.
Parking situation
Despite stating “free parking” on Google Maps, the parking lot was paid (10 €/day) and also completely crowded. For a 3-star hotel, we expect more transparency and availability.
Pros:
The bed was comfortable... unfortunately the only significant plus.
Conclusion:
Hotel Denbu does not meet the standards of a 3-star hotel in any way. Neither facilities, service, breakfast nor location justify this claim. A poor safety and hygiene concept as well as unprofessional handling of complaints make this hotel unfortunately not recommended.
We would not book it again and also recommend anyone.

Gross and overpriced

Since these people can't tolerate criticism and have the reviews deleted by google, here are the screenshots of my review. It makes no sense to delete reviews if a hotel is unsanitary. That's what it's for to warn others.

Terrible on all aspects

This place was below what you would expect on all aspects. Dimly lit hallways and worn down interior. Bathroom moldy looking and generally unpleasant.
And they are actively trying to remove bad reviews by claiming defamation under German law.

Too expensive and needs some refurbishment

Positive - hotel is close to airport, staff was friendly and room more or less clean.
Negative - hotel clearly needs some refurbishment. Stains on carpets that can't be removed, very poor visual quality in room, missing bulb in bathroom lamp (in addition this lamp was covered with thick layer of dust), etc, etc.
Overall experience is poor - way too expensive for offered quality.
