Cosy, friendly winemaker hotel on the beautiful Moselle

The Winzerhof Gietzen is a cosy hotel on the Moselle with attractive rooms, a fantastic courtyard with courtyard servings on summer weekends and a very lovingly prepared breakfast offer. The village of Hatzenport is not very interesting, but the scenery around it is wonderful, with many tempting excursion destinations and fantastic hiking opportunities.
But the most important thing is for sure how to be received and this is a family business with everything that entails. There is no full-fledged hotel restaurant with a wide selection of food, usually only small things to wine at the farm dispenser on the summer weekends. However, dealing with them is much more personal and friendly than in a large hotel with many employees.
Our arrival in the middle of the farm serving time was very hectic, as Mr Gietzen served the many wine guests alone and could only with difficulty get the time to show us our room. But that was not typical and later everything became much more resolved and the host proved very helpful and accommodating. There were free bus and train tickets, suggestions for restaurants and advice for excursions, including a hiking map for a fabulous hike to Eltz Castle.
When we left after two days we had the feeling that we had arrived as strangers but left as friends. I am sure we will come back because the stay was a treat and the area offers many opportunities we can still discover.

At first glance idyllic, but ...

In advance: It is not a hotel, as some offers say, and there is no restaurant. Unfortunately, the attractive ostrich farm in the courtyard was also closed. A visibly annoyed landlady nevertheless went out of her way to stop us from visiting the nearest restaurants (an Italiner, a Turk) instead of simply putting a cheese platter and a bottle of wine ...
The guest rooms are housed in a new building, which you cannot see in the photos on the Internet. We could park our bikes in a shed between pallets and hobos, but the two sockets were already occupied. The employee who watched our efforts to put down three wheels and connect them to the power shook his head incomprehensibly in passing, but was not helpful. Meanwhile, the landlady asked us twice to drink the welcome drink, she had already poured it - but we were still busy with the wheels and luggage! A "warm welcome" looks different, just tick off the checklist here ...
Otherwise: The rooms are as welcoming as they are neat (and quiet from 10 p.m. when traffic subsides), the breakfast is as plentiful as it is appetizing. Very friendly breakfast service, very friendly maid. The landlords, on the other hand, would like to recommend communication training.

Exceeded Expectations

We choose this Vintners Hotel for its great reviews, we had high expectations, the actual experience surpassed them. The proprietor is a talented winemaker who also runs this boutique hotel and restaurant. He just served us the best meal in the last 6 weeks traveling through Europe.
We enter through a working winery, fermenting vats, bottling equipment and all, which leads to a storybook courtyard where we experience an exceptionally good meal, equally good wine and then a well appointed suite overlooking the Moselle river and Vinyards.
The thought that comes to mind is magical, a truly magical place and exceptional experience. Highly Recommend

beautiful place with unbelievable wine

I was looking for a place that had wine tasting and food while my brother was here with his family and this place was absolutely perfect! I had to call three days in a row and beg for a reservation because they were completely booked out and full. But the owner accepted the four of us and it was just unbelievably good.

An absolute gem in The Mosel!

I was looking for a vineyard with accommodation and food along the Mosel and came across this lovely little estate.
The owners make fabulous wine, not least as Hatzenport has its own micro climate due to its location - one, which is perfect for growing wine.
The rooms are comfortable, the prices reasonable and the food excellent. Breakfast the morning after was very enjoyable - it even included their own wine jelly!
We will definitely come again!

Very good location
