very nice, family-run hotel in the Spessart

The "Christel" is a very nice, family-run, and down-to-earth hotel.
The renovated rooms are very appealing and sufficiently spacious.
We had half board. The breakfast was sufficient, and every morning they asked if one wanted scrambled eggs, fried eggs, or just a boiled egg... that is rare. Additionally, there were sausages, cheese, homemade jam, homemade honey, fruit, and various types of pastries.
Dinner was served as a three-course menu, and one could choose between meat and fish. The food tastes excellent, is beautifully presented, and very plentiful.
The service is unparalleled. Always friendly, always accommodating, and special requests are also addressed. Many thanks to Bettina Süß, Linh, Thao, Juleen, and Anh. Discreet in the background, but always present.
We thank the Spieler family and the entire hotel team and will definitely return.

Not recommended!

Unfortunately disappointing. Upon arrival, the hotel entrance is only accessible via stairs at both the front and rear. Also suitcases and luggage had to be carried in through this difficult access
Only the 1st and 2nd floors are accessible by elevator from the entrance. The 3rd floor is accessible via stairs from the 2nd floor.
No air conditioning.
No friendly owners, can't laugh off. The receptionist and staff at the restaurant are very friendly. Great breakfast! Dinner sucks. Photos on website do not correspond to reality at all.
Mouldy corners in the shower and leafy ceiling in the bathroom.
Bed was fine.
Welcoming, and food could certainly have been better!

Not recommended for people with walking difficulties

Had half board, definitely not recommended. Quality of hot food is very disappointing. Breakfast is fine. Room is also good. Owner is not so friendly. It is a training place , but the pupils are rightly pointed out by the owner. The students were friendly in the service. And what is strange is a bottle of water in the room costs 2.50 euros 0.75 L during dinner it costs 4.80. It says that lift is present, but if you have difficulty walking it is not recommended. You always have to walk stairs first, before you can get to the elevator, from above the street or below from parking in basement up. (so also with the suitcases )

Top - we will be back

Very nice hotel - romantic location with great natural swimming pond - top food - attentive staff - very good breakfast - everything was fine. We felt very comfortable and will definitely come back. I cannot understand the negative reviews at all.
