This hotel is off-the-autobahn, and that is great!
Peaceful and beautiful surroundings make it a perfect choice for a nice and relaxing stay.
We used both on our way going south and north though Germany.
Great garden and open-air area.
Rooms have air-conditioning and the beds are comfortable enough.
Breakfast is available, on request, and ok.
One thing would be an enormous improvement, and that is a Snacks and Drink machine in the lobby. It shouldn't be necessary to have the receptionist available or present to purchase these.
We will probably be back, and expect this changed

Bad and way too expensive!

Review of the Hotel Michel in Hodenhausen
We arrived with a group of 15 cyclists, and the rooms were already booked in advance for €165 for a double room. €17.50 for breakfast was an additional cost.
We booked based on the documentation and images on the internet, which indicated a cozy stay.
Upon arrival, we initially drove past because there was nothing in the parking area indicating that it was a hotel. There were no signs above the entrance, no hotel designation, and the green areas were overgrown. It actually felt like being in a lost place. After we realized that it was the right hotel, we checked into our rooms. On the way to the rooms, it was immediately noticeable that the carpets were old and partly rotten, and one could hardly sense any life in the hotel. In the rooms, one was afraid to walk barefoot because these were probably the first carpets installed there.
While exploring the hotel, it was noticeable that the bar and restaurant were dark and served as storage rooms, and that the conference rooms were not available. Except for the staff at the reception, no other staff member was visible. From 9:30 PM onwards, the reception was no longer staffed.
The breakfast was mediocre but acceptable.
Unfortunately, I cannot identify any positive aspects of this hotel, especially at a price of €165. The night without breakfast for a lost place was quite overpriced. Nothing is being done to this hotel except for the possibly ten rooms that have been renovated.
We feel most sorry for the staff who were there in the morning during breakfast and mentioned that they had worked in this hotel for 26 years and had witnessed this decline, as they are the least responsible and always have to take the criticism.
Unfortunately, I can only advise against booking this hotel, as one will only be disappointed otherwise.
This is of course just my opinion, but the price-performance ratio does not fit at all; €70-80 would have been acceptable, but not €165.

Horror hotel with unfriendly staff- please avoid!

The hotel has Hostel level: we arrived earlier, and without even being able to ask if we could check in beforehand (for an additional fee), it was researched that check-in is only possible from 3pm. Without exception. There is no restaurant to bridge the time, so we have swerved to neighboring pubs. The check-in process at 3pm was then OK, but we were handed an incorrectly coded room card, with the result that we did not get into the room. The room has a 70s charm, which was OK for 1 night. Unfortunately, the bed was slack. The bathroom was similar to the toilets on the plane all made of plastic, in the shower the water drained poorly. Breakfast was mixed, baked rolls and loveless cheese and sausage buffet. Conclusion: never again, there are better alternatives in the area.

Achat Hotel not again

At the beginning of September 2024, we stayed in this hotel as a married couple. We had booked privately. The description of this house read well in advance, so we booked. Upon arrival came immediately the disillusionment. The completely annoyed receptionist was able to find us on her PC after quite some time. We got the room card and were immediately asked to pay the price for our stay. This hasn't happened to us in any hotel so far. Then we learned that there was no room service. Needed utensils could be obtained at the reception on request. we are not sure if the reception is also manned at night ? The breakfast times were communicated to us, otherwise there was no possibility of taking food in this HOTEL. The room was clean at first glance, even if the service is probably not paid for its performance behind the doors. In the shower there were roots of mold. The breakfast buffet was mediocre. For around €20 you can expect much more. Orange juice had not been "supplied", but there was banana juice !? The decor and also the tables were cold. No flowers or runners on them and then the staff -- we sat for a long time at breakfast and in the background the kitchen fairy clattered with every single plate she conscientiously checked for cleanliness. In other houses, this is done in the kitchen and the plates are deposited in the stack. For THE price of the overnight stay I can always expect something better.
