Especially suitable for a short stay

I only spent a short night there. The room was average but clean, and it was everything you could expect. I appreciated it after booking an EZ to get a DZ and the friendly check-out. The elevator stops between floors, which can be a problem with mobility restrictions.

My impression of the Hotel Sonne in Idstein

I'm here in Idstein every few weeks and stay at the Hotel Sonne, House 2.
The rooms/bathrooms are very clean, everything is very well maintained. There's even a smoking area outside for guests with a table and chairs. The location is perfect, there's no other way to describe it! You can walk to the city center in 5 minutes. Everything is on site, be it restaurants, drugstores, bakeries.
As the hotel is called "Sonne", all the room walls are painted yellow - of course it fits, but I personally would find it even nicer if it were a bit more modern. But everything is totally fine! Price/performance ratio is completely fine!
A single room costs €60 per night, a double room costs €85 per night. So you can't complain.
As I've slept facing the street the last few times, I have to say that you can hear the cars driving past, but it's rather muffled through the windows.
Breakfast is also available for €10 in the Hotel Sonne, House 1. This is one meter away on the opposite side of the street. The breakfast is OK. Everything was delicious, but it wasn't a big buffet, just a manageable one. But that was OK too!
You can park for free (as you can see in one of the photos) right in front of the house. This means you can leave your car while you spend time in Idstein.
All in all, it's good, but not particularly luxurious!

Nice and clean hotel, but ask for a room at the back.

Due to a brake down of our car, we ended up for a night in this hotel. We had a nice room with a large bed and more space than many (more luxurious) hotels can offer. 89 euro is a nice price for such a room including a simple but fulfilling breakfast. Breakfast was served due to Corona (choices to be made at the buffet and brought to you by the very friendly servant). The lack of a restaurant is no problem, since there are many restaurants nearby. There was even a Thai restaurant right beneath our room, but it was closed on Monday. The old village with a lot of character is within walking distance and made us decide to make Idstein a destiny for future travels. We would like to stay in the same hotel as well, but would ask for a room that is not situated directly on the busy main road. On a warm day you cannot open the windows if you want to sleep without the noise of passing traffic. Our room was close to the elevator and every movement of that device reached us loud and clear as well.

Good Hotel

Simple and clean hotel, a good place to spend the night on the way from Cologne in direction to Frankfurt (A3 highway). Very friendly staff, good breakfast, good price. The town is very beautiful, take a few minutes and walk around before you continue your trip!

Nice hotel, friendly, outgoing staff

We stayed for only one night - were passing through but still were pleasantly surprised by the room which was clean and tidy and had all the amenities a traveler would need. We got stuck in a traffic jam and came to the hotel close to midnight which didn't pose a problem to the staff. All we needed to do was phone ahead and tell them when we were coming.
