An institution

This restaurant/hotel – actually more of an inn in the best sense of the word – is a real institution in Kaub, established for generations. The kitchen and service are run by two men who work together with humor and exceptional efficiency. In an age of staff shortages, it is inspiring to see how hard work and fun go hand in hand here.
I chose the schnitzel with Pfifferlingen: really from art. The venison goulash was reasonable; the sauce could have had a little more depth in flavor. Less successful I found that my request to replace the apple compote with an attachment salad resulted in a loose extra item on the bill. That felt a bit unnecessary; an extra cost would have made more sense.
A small criticism, but it does not detract much from the overall experience. All in all a must: 4 out of 5 stars.

Room very small, place Kaub very boring, food excellent

As part of the Rheinsteig hike, the hotel had been pre-booked. On arrival shortly after 2 pm I did not get any coffee as the coffee machine had just been turned off. The stairs to the 1. Stock is very demanding with luggage. My room was mini, with a double bed full and I didn't know where to put my suitcase open.
Dinner (many offers with chanterelles) was excellently delicious.
Breakfast was also okay and extensive.

The host with the most

We attended a wedding in the castle, and stayed 3 days in Kaub, we only stayed one night at Hotel Deutsches Haus, which turned out to be our bad luck, because Edgar, our host, looked after us so well, the room was just what you needed for a good nights rest, it was clean and large, we had dinner and the food was excellent, cooked it turns out by Edgar's brother Willi,if we ever return to Kaub, this hotel is where we would stay and stay for longer.

Unkindness in person

We were guests at the restaurant last weekend. Food good but waited over an hour for spaghetti bolognese. It can happen.
The old head there was the greatest unkindness we've ever encountered. Outrageous and snide. When asked when the food would come, the answer came we could go to the fast food.
Heard the head there is a shame.
Can't go there anymore.

Wonderful hotel in Kaub, Germany

A three night stay, we could not have enjoyed our experience any better due to the kindness, and humor, of our host - Edgar Kirdorf. Extremely proactive in helping us navigate the local attractions, he even booked our itinerary and tickets for a round trip tour of the Rhine castles between St Goar and Rüdesheim (and return by train to Kaub). A quaint hotel in a quaint locale, we will always look back on our stay with fondness. Thank you Edgar!
