Disappointing and extremely expensive.
This is the absolutely worst B&B I have ever stayed in.
Room:
Initially, my colleagues were given two rooms that were not cleaned/tidied up. Only on the third attempt was there a clean room available.
There is no room service – they are cutting costs, supposedly for environmental reasons. This was also pointed out. Room cleaning only occurs every three days – this means strict cost-cutting at the expense of the guests at a daily rate of 200 euros – outrageous!
Back to the environmental thought and 'Save the Planet': In my bathroom, the toilet ran the entire stay – for 12 days. Well, it's just water.
And then there's the amenities in the bathroom: The radiator was completely dirty, the holder for tissues was empty, as was the hygiene bag dispenser. In the bathroom, there were two different systems for soap and shampoo, which means that one system was half empty and the other was added.
Breakfast is a topic of its own: very unfriendly and snappy breakfast lady during the week, on Sunday the counter was already cleared out by 7:45 AM (start at 7:30 AM), on another day there was no bread left, then only rolls, and so on.
There are two coffee machines available, but only one is turned on – cleaning two machines is work!
Safety is a big issue: The key card/chip card had to be reprogrammed almost every day. According to an employee, this is an 'old system' that no longer works properly (or has not been maintained). For the new card, I often only had to provide the room number; there was no inquiry about the name.
The terrace is very unkempt and messy. The broken umbrella is probably still there, which could be life-threatening, as a strut is sticking out from the umbrella. I observed this for 12 days, but nothing was done about it.
Conclusion: All in all, a rather unsatisfactory and overpriced stay in Krefeld-South. The house is not well-maintained, the guest toilet is dirty, and the staff is rather unfriendly. The profit greed of the operator is truly felt everywhere.

Passable
The location is easily accessible for motorway exit or the way to town. A frequent tram is easily accessible in about 8 minutes walk
The room is pleasantly large
I kept wondering about the dust on the edges of my book from the bedside table.
The bed rail at the head and both bedside tables were dusty.
The shower is quite generous and therefore long and dark. The shower fitting was heavily calcified when upholstered.
The bar was unfortunately not open for any of my stays.
The longer-used rooms are cleaned only at intervals of several days. I guess that's when my room went down with the new cover.
In the hallways there are some stains in the carpet
After years of being under several labels or even operators, I feel sad that the hotel is being passed downstairs.

Top Business Hotel
Ein top Business Hotel. Very friendly welcome. Quiet location right on a small lake where many small rabbits hop around. Rooms are clean and air conditioned. The restaurant also offers vegetarian options on request and the staff is super nice and accommodating.

The stay was great due to the hotel staff and the room spacious and well insulated. However, there are policies in place that makes both customers and their staff uncomfortable and go against common sense as well as EU and National regulations. I hope that with this review, the Meliá groups management will come to their senses. Please read:
The 1200 km trip going to the hotel was horrible, so when we arrived there, we just wanted to take a shower and go to sleep, but we were asked to fill in some forms with our personal data, agreeing to the hotel rules as well as agreeing to pay a fine (400 euros) if we were to smoke (we asked for a no smoking room). We were also asked to leave our credit card details on one of said forms, which is very unsafe at best. Other people were asked to leave a 200 euros deposit since they did not have a credit card. There are European as well as National regulations that specify fines for smoking in forbidden areas, and there are strict European laws for data protection that those forms are not adhering to. I never experienced this before and it made me feel unwelcomed and harassed, so much so I was ready to leave, if not for the issues this would have caused to the staff, that looked visibly uncomfortable. Melia, this is a big no! Also the fact that there are international channels available is a big no! You should thank the staff and the great hotel manager you have, that are doing their best to make the customers feel welcomed!
