Hotel located centrally

Centrally located hotel; we had a relatively large double room with a view of the Trave. The bathroom was small, the shower very small and cramped. Breakfast was diverse and good. Staff was friendly.
Parking and loading/unloading luggage was cumbersome, with no assistance from the service staff, which is a problem for older and severely disabled guests.

Very disappointing!

I stayed with my daughter in October 2025 at the Hotel Deutscher Kaiser in Lübeck. We arrived in the afternoon and received a room that in no way corresponded to what was shown in the booking photos. The photos on the Internet give the impression of modern, cozy and well-kept rooms – in fact, our room looked completely different.
The floor was completely tiled, which created a cold and uncomfortable atmosphere – more like in a kitchen or laundry room. The blanket over the bed as well as in the bathroom showed clear mold stains, especially over the shower. Overall, the room seemed very loveless, worn out and had no feel-good character. The equipment was also far below the level you might expect from a four-star hotel: no safe, no special equipment, no comfort.
The window went out to a dreary courtyard, barely letting in daylight. Overall, the atmosphere was oppressive and anything but welcoming. We checked out again after one night – although actually two more nights were booked – and of course we did not receive any money back.
I have visited many hotels before, but this room was by far the worst I have ever experienced in this price category and star rating. For a four-star hotel, the condition and facilities of this room are absolutely unacceptable.
I can only strongly recommend looking at the rooms on site or getting written confirmation from the hotel as to which room you actually get. The discrepancy between online photos and reality is enormous here.

One night stay after boat trip

This was one of the only hotels in the area that allowed dogs. Location was great after a longish boat trip with the family.
Parking was a little confusing at first, but you can either par along side the road or then the hotels own parking further away.
The hotel is a bit of a maze, with a rather small lift.
The hotels breakfast was great, not a massive selection, but very pleasent and extremely friendly staff.
Over all, nice hotel, nice stay, friendly staff. Would recommend and would come again!

My mother and I stayed at this hotel when visiting the area for my uncles funeral. The hotel staff were friendly and welcoming and allocated us the most comfortable room with the best view of the promenade and the boats passing. The decor was nice, and the room was a decent size with a nice seating area to enjoy the view. The location was fantastic for local shops and restaurants. There were two choices for breakfast, served from 7-12. Upstairs in the garden room and then downstairs in Jo’s. Breakfast had a reasonable choice and was very nice. The downsides were the bed wasn’t so long. I am tall (6ft) and my feet hung off the end. There was also no security safe which is helpful when you are staying from abroad and have passport etc. the fridge also was super loud and so at night we had to switch it off. Parking is a short walk from the hotel and chargeable at 5euro per night, but there is parking in the street nearer the hotel which is free from 6pm until 10am. All in all, a very pleasant and comfortable hotel and we would certainly consider returning.

New Year's Eve Trip

As always, it was a great stay. We have been here 3 times now and we always like it very much.
We immediately feel welcome!
There is a great breakfast buffet - small but very tasty, scrambled eggs, sparkling wine, salmon...! There is everything your heart desires for breakfast. The service is also very attentive!!!
The location speaks for itself, right on the front row, so you are right in the middle of things!
