Staff was courteous and helpful. the bottle of sparkling water in the room was also a nice gesture.

I really like the classic looks of this hotel and it's location but unfortunately its no longer as well managed as it used to be. Several technical maintenance issues and "non-caring" staf made my 5-days stay unpleasant. The relatively new beds were very soft and impossible to have a good night sleep ( even after removing the soft "memory foam" topper)

Room 1 (121) what we had, had defect in the air conditioning and was locked only after our report as in need of repair.
The communication about the safety standard "Safe" made us very terrified - here the manager of the house should first of all think fundamentally about what his employees say.
Service at the reception, partly incomprehensible, that not even change is available.

Unfortunately, we were not at all satisfied with the "Mannheimer Hof / Leonardo Limited Edition" on our first visit under the new name, as we have discovered several glaring vulnerabilities in terms of security!

At check-in, the employee also collected the city tax.
According to our booking in advance, via the HP/Website >> 3,15 €.
On site, the employee wanted only €2.76.
We were not told why there was this difference in our favour.

When we wanted to pay the city tax BAR, the employee informed us that it cannot change and showed us her cash register, where only 20/10/5 cent coins were included and she asked us to pay the amount please by card. Since we had no other choice, because we did not have the amount to match, we had to comply - HOWEVER - we already find it sad for a well-known hotel, like the Mannheimer Hof wants to be, that this non-cash world is taking increasingly crass forms and you can no longer pay even the smallest amounts in cash.
Room
Upon arrival, the receptionist has given us an "executive room" (upgrate) (room 121 - facing the courtyard). When we entered the room, a complete heat boost came our way - a look at the air conditioning but said 17 degrees, which was completely flawed. A look in the closet, where the safe was stored, left us stunned >> it was loosely stored in the closet without any attachment, which is a NoGo for hotel safes. “A hotel safe must be permanently and permanently mounted on a fixed part of the building or a stable furniture wall to prevent theft, using the supplied fastening material. Installation must ensure that the safe is stable and protected from unauthorized access, for example by anchoring it in a solid rear wall or in the floor. Correct placement and secure anchorage are critical to the safe's function, even if guests need easy access." We decided to leave this room due to the shortcomings and went down to the reception. Once there and reporting the shortcomings, the staff member has given us hair-raising information about the safe, which we have not heard in any way in a hotel: > the safes in the hotel, are all not permanently installed > the safes, if you wanted to break them open, would not be feasible - this would have been worked through by staff for rehearsal once.
Conclusion: The statements of the employee did not convince us completely and we decided not to use the safe, as we were not convinced of the security concept of the hotel, as you 'could' still steal the safe from the closet.
To room 121, the staff member indicated her regret that the air conditioning would not work correctly and we get a room change. After a short research, the staff member informed me that she had a room "to the street" out > like our booked category -> instead of upgrading due to the lack, we slipped down a room category again - a shame - but maybe nothing else was available.
New room 109: > Air conditioning worked -> Display 23 degrees and temperature fine > the safe was attached to the board in the closet, but the board in the whole 'could' have been removed as well:-(
-at the coffee & tea maker, was still water in the water container from the predecessor included - this was overlooked by the cleaner to replace this. >> there was a mezzanine door to the neighboring room 110 and this was NOT locked - also a NoGo - here again safety is not the top priority on the part of the hotel. Message at the reception > the staff was visibly dismayed by our message, as this must not happen under any circumstances.
Another point, needs the deposited info on the room tablet: >> parking according to info 4,- € / hour & 10,- € / day >> according to HP/Website of the hotel, parking costs 20,- € / day --->> here should be urgently updated once, as this is incorrect information!

Had booked when booking incl. breakfast and this is located on the ground floor. Open up nicely, there are all kinds of choices and you get fed up. If you want to book breakfast "on site", you have to pay >> 21,- € according to HP/Website.

Hotel is very centrally located on a main thoroughfare of Mannheim and therefore perfect location.

Selbst bei kleineren Beträgen ist es unser Anspruch, eine vollständige und nachvollziehbare Kommunikation zu gewährleisten. Ebenso stimmt es nachdenklich, dass keine Möglichkeit bestand, eine solch geringe Summe in bar zu begleichen – hier hätten wir eine pragmatischere Lösung finden müssen. Ihre Kritik an der zunehmenden Bargeldlosigkeit nehmen wir ernst und prüfen, wie wir an dieser Stelle künftig wieder mehr Flexibilität bieten können.
Bezüglich des Zimmers und der Sicherheitseinrichtungen (Safe) möchten wir uns besonders bei Ihnen entschuldigen. Dass Sie in einem als Upgrade gedachten Zimmer eine defekte Klimaanlage, einen nicht fachgerecht gesicherten Safe sowie eine mangelhafte Lufttemperatur vorgefunden haben, ist inakzeptabel. Rooms a bit wore down and in general they are better Intercity Hotels
Well stayed for 1 Night last week and was bit disappointed. The rooms were a bit run down and the bathroom not totally clean. Breakfast in the morning compared to other IntercityHotels was a bit disappointing. One the positive side the personnel at the reception was very friendly and the location just outside the trainstation as well as direct access to street cars etc. are very convenient.

Old or new?
The hotel gives a strange impression, looks very old in many respects, but is also modern and renovated in others. In the same room coexist new and modern furniture and very old finishes. The room was spacious and comfortable for one night. Comfortable bed but pillows too big or hard for my taste. The reception is good. The restaurant also. I haven't tried the bar. Having paid the company directly I can not assess the value for money.
