A wonderful base to explore Munich

Hotel Obermaier was a great place to base our city break to Munich. The staff were friendly and helpful and our room was perfect for us with a teenage daughter. We had a Junior Suite with gallery which meant that our daughter had her own space upstairs in which to chill out when we got back from our day trips. The Bavarian breakfast was fantastic with so much choice and being in the suburbs meant that it was quiet. It took ten mins to walk to Trudering station and then about 20mins on two trains to get into the centre of Munich. Once we had figured out the transport system it was very straightforward (download the MVGO app!). The hotel was spotless and inviting and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Great stay in Munich

The hotel was beautiful and very inviting. The staff was very helpful, friendly and professional. Breakfast was great each day with fresh fruit, vegetables, breads and pastries. One concern is that the walk in shower floors are smooth and slippery. This is difficult for seniors and could be improved for safety. If we were to come to Munich again, we would definitely return here. Thanks to all of you for making us Americans comfortable.

Highly recommend!

I can’t recommend this hotel enough! While outside of the city center, we found the walk and ride to the train station very easy. The distance to the main square/old town was not bad at all. The area has several grocery stores and a drug store within walking distance which was very helpful. We had a room that fit a family of five (hard to find in Europe!) and the room was extremely clean. Another bonus was the nice large breakfast that was included each morning. Not to mention the price was very very reasonable compared to hotels in the city center. My only caution is that the AC is not very strong. But we opened the windows and skylights for a nice breeze. I would definitely return to this hotel!

Very good hotel. Bus to the U&S bahn stops right outside, station is 700 meters walk. Great base to explore Munich.
Quiet location, easy access, friendly staff, clean and good rooms and very good breakfast!
Several amenities and restaurants within walking distance.

The best

Just finished our second stay at Hotel Obermaier. I don't think I can fully express how much I love this little hotel. We took our kids to Munich back in October of 2025 and we returned as a couple 2 weeks ago. It's very comfortable, very quiet, and the staff are excellent.
The amenities are wonderful: delicious breakfast included, wonderful restaurant on site. There's two grocery stores (Rewe and Edeka) and two drug stores (Müller and Rossman) across the street, at least 5 delicious bakeries within a short walk, 2 or 3 döner kebab shops, and two ice cream places!
It's also a short 10 minute walk from the Trudering S-Bahn and U-Bahn stop, or you can take the local bus to the station. The Schmuckerweg bus stop is just outside the hotel. So getting to downtown Munich for sightseeing is super easy.
The prices are reasonable too and less expensive than the bust, noisy hotels in Munich city. Far more quiet is this hotel in the cozy little town of Trudering.
I'd HIGHLY recommend this wonderful hotel to anyone who wants to visit Munich.
