Lovely stay
We stayed for a long weekend in this family operated hotel. Very warm welcome, easy and swift check-in.
Our room was ready even we arrived before noon time, which was most appreciated. We stayed in room 2 (downstairs). The room was very spacious and warmly decorated.
A proper breakfast is served from 8:30. We booked our room with half board. Dinner is served around 18:45. The food is well prepared and nicely served, just delicious.
Kind staff and good service.
The hotel is very well located on a ‘hill’ (with parking facilities) in the middle of nature, really nice to make long walks.
We travelled with our dog who was welcome at an additional cost.
Will definitely stay again in this charming hotel!!

Lovely 4 day stay
We had a great 4 days in a spacious Luxury room with a beautiful view of the landscape.
The owners were very friendly and gave us a warm welcome and we enjoyed the very good variety of breakfast !! The good dinners were accompanied with very tasty wines. Look forward to passing by again ✌️

Run like a prison
We stayed here 3 nights. Do not make the mistake and stay here! The old lady at the reception (i assume the owner) will give you a dirty look and attitude for anything that is not on their rigid schedule. You're not treated as a guest here but rather a prisoner, so do not expect any service. They are not kid friendly either! And the free wifi does not work at all. We told the reception about it and she stared back at us blankly and said it was our problem. Never again do we stay here even if we were offered a free stay. I will say the food was decent.

Kinder sind bei uns herzlich willkommen, wobei wir allerdings tobende Kinder bzw. deren Eltern um Rücksichtnahme auf andere Gäste bitten - aus Sicht unserer Gäste nicht kinderunfreundlich sondern gastfreundlich.
Über eine persönliche Kontaktaufnahme zur Klärung würde uns sehr freuen, da für uns der hier geschilderte 3-Nächte-Aufenthalt nicht nachvollziehbar ist.

Lovely hotel with a nice view, service and food
We stayed for 2 nights in a standard room. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and amenities in the bathroom. The view was looking on to the forest and the garden. In the morning sun rays entered through the window. Service is really excellent, all your needs are taken care of. Also, the place is a good starting point for hiking. The restaurant is pretty good and offers better food and a much better atmosphere than the nearby town Winterberg.
Improvements: the wifi connection is awful, it drops out fast and requires you to re-login. Breakfast time is at 8:30am which is late for those that wish to hike or langlauf early. Breakfast can be had earlier on request.

Small charming hotel on a nice location
Landhaus Astenrose is situated on a 5min drive from Winterberg. It's up a hill on 750m. The location of the hotel is beautifull, since the hotel is almost at the highest point in the area the view is very nice. The real highest point in Sauerland (Kahler Asten) is just at 15min walking distance. The main walking route (Rothaarsteig) run's past the hotel. So if you are here for walking, you are at the right place.
The hotel itself is small. It has 10 rooms. The rooms are very well equiped and of a good size. Cleaning was very good, and the room was wel maintained. No bath only a shower. TV has only German channels. Breakfast very good. Lot's of choices.
The hotel also offers free WIFI and has a sauna which is free of use if you stay 3 nights or longer. With shorter stays the charge for the sauna is 8,-. You can also have dinner in the hotel. The prices for a main course are around 25,- and the menu is at a cullinairy higher level. There are many cheaper alternatives in Winterberg (Free parking after 18.00).
It is a family owned operation, you can feel that the hosts have a passion for the business.
It is not possible to pay per credit card in the hotel. Debit cards are accepted.
