Bar Nox - Culinary highlight in a dreamlike atmosphere
Among other things, we tried two cocktails, a non-alcoholic Sauvignon Blanc, the white tomato soup, and the children's dish pasta with tomato sauce. I would also like to highlight the children's dish "pasta with tomato sauce" as particularly positive. At 8 euros, it is absolutely fairly priced. Especially today, that is no longer a matter of course. Therefore, an explicit thank you at this point for a family-friendly pricing policy. As a family with a child, we really appreciate that.
Everything was convincing in terms of taste. I was particularly pleasantly surprised by the non-alcoholic Sauvignon Blanc, which I ordered on the waiter's recommendation. It is among the best non-alcoholic wines I have drunk so far. Many non-alcoholic wines are personally too sweet for me or remind me more of grape juice. This one was significantly more balanced and pleasantly dry.
The cocktails were also very successful. My favorite was the Starlet Martini, which was excellent in taste. Only with the presentation would I have wished for a little more attention to detail, for example, half a passion fruit as a garnish. With the second cocktail, however, the taste and presentation were equally good.
The culinary highlight of the evening for me was the white tomato soup. A real explosion of flavor and so delicious that I would order it again anytime.
At the beginning, we sat outside with a wonderful view over the lake and the sunset. The ambiance is truly something special: comfortable seating, a relaxed atmosphere, and a dreamlike view. The service could have been a bit more attentive and smoother at the beginning, but it became significantly better after a short time.
As the sun went down and it got a bit cooler, we moved inside. An acquaintance of ours happened to be playing the piano there, which gave the evening an even more special touch. The stylish ambiance combined with the pleasant background music ensured an extremely relaxed atmosphere.
We were there with our 11-year-old son and felt very comfortable. From our perspective, there is absolutely nothing against visiting such a place with children as well, provided they can behave accordingly.
To finish, we spent some more time outside by the fire pit before we headed home.
Despite minor room for improvement regarding the service at the beginning and the presentation of a cocktail, it was overall a completely successful evening with very good drinks, excellent food, and an exceptionally beautiful atmosphere. Certainly not our last visit. Next time, we will probably also get to know the Lumi or the Seezeitlodge itself better. We are already looking forward to it.

No air conditioning, and that in 2026.
Great hotel, really, but no air conditioning at 38 degrees, that is the problem with everything - asked at the reception and blah blah blah about the green deal, but still paid almost 2500 euros and no air conditioning!!!!

Luxury prices without corresponding service and standard.
Unfortunately, the hotel has changed significantly in our view over the last 12 months, and not for the better. At the same time, prices continue to rise while services are being cut back in more and more areas.
We are talking about room prices of around €600 to €700 per night for two people. In this category, certain standards are simply expected as a matter of course.
An example:
In the past, we regularly booked rooms with a direct view of the lake. However, these are located above the bar and terrace, making the noise level quite noticeable in the evenings. Therefore, we have consciously chosen a different room category in the meantime. The view of the lake is also very nice there, but the location is significantly quieter.
Now we had to find out that suddenly there is no coffee machine available in this category. A triviality in terms of cost, but in a hotel of this price range, it is a completely normal standard in our view. When we inquired at the reception, we were arrogantly told that we should have booked the more expensive room category for that. The surcharge: about €60 per night supposedly for the view and the coffee machine.
To be honest: Justifying a €60 surcharge for a coffee machine simply seems absurd.
Additionally, the rooms have no air conditioning. Especially the rooms with a view of the lake or facing south heat up extremely in the summer. As a result, it can become uncomfortably warm at night. We also find this to be outdated in this price range.
It is now very clear in many other areas that cuts are being made:
• Room cleaning only every two days
• Fresh towels must sometimes be actively organized
• Minibar empty, refrigerator only operates with a note to order contents for a fee at the reception
• Water in the room only upon arrival; afterwards, a bottle at the bar costs €7.50
• Previously, there was even a small bottle of water for the journey home upon departure; that has also been eliminated
• Conditioner is no longer available in the rooms
• Those who wish to use the wellness area on the day of departure will find neither shampoo nor conditioner in the showers. Other guests even had to buy shower gel in the hotel shop for this purpose
It is precisely these many small things that stand out in total. Not because one wants to "sneak" something for free, but because such basics are normally taken for granted in this hotel class.
We found the dinner particularly disappointing by now.
The cuisine is heavily inspired by Celtic traditions and is very specific. This may appeal to some guests. However, for us, it has often been very far from what one expects in a high-quality wellness hotel. Even more problematic is that there are hardly any reasonable alternatives if the regular dishes do not appeal to you.
One evening, I simply wanted to order an alternative main dish from the menu and had to pay an additional €38, even though dinner was already included. We perceive this price level as completely excessive.
We travel a lot to high-quality hotels and know it differently. Normally, there are always uncomplicated alternatives, even if it is just a simple fish or chicken dish. Here, on the other hand, much seems to be extremely regulated and aimed at maximizing additional sales.
Even in the spa area, one can now notice cutbacks. My wife had booked a high-priced cosmetic treatment and realized during the treatment that it was being performed by a trainee or a promising talent, albeit just before completing their training.
In principle, promoting young talent is absolutely right and important. However, with the prices charged in a hotel of this category, one expects experienced professionals with corresponding routine and seniority. Unfortunately, the impression also arose here that costs are increasingly being optimized.
What has additionally struck us this year is:
The entire audience and atmosphere have changed significantly.
The Seezeitlodge used to seem to us like a quiet wellness hotel focused on relaxation and recuperation. Of course, it was never officially an adults-only hotel, but the entire philosophy, design, and target audience clearly leaned in that direction.
This year, however, there were noticeably many families with small children in the hotel. Since there are hardly any separate offerings for children, no real play area is available, and much automatically shifts to the bathing and wellness area, quiet relaxation was hardly to be thought of at times.
At the natural pond, by the pool, and partly also in the wellness zones, there was playing, jumping, and corresponding loudness. We ourselves have children and have nothing against family hotels in principle. If this is the new direction of the establishment in the future, that is completely legitimate.
However, this concept no longer personally fits what we originally sought and appreciated there.
Additionally, the wellness and sauna area has become extremely crowded due to external day guests. Especially during sauna infusions, there are now long lines in front of the saunas just to secure a spot.
We know this from public baths or thermal spas, but not from a high-quality wellness hotel in this price range. In the past, this tranquility, exclusivity, and relaxation were a major advantage of the establishment. Today, the area sometimes feels overcrowded and hectic.
Unfortunately, the service at the reception has also changed significantly. In the past, the atmosphere was warm, attentive, and professional. This year, we often felt more like a disturbance. Particularly, one staff member appeared very condescending and annoyed from our perspective. Outwardly friendly with a smile, but in her choice of words and demeanor, she was very cold and arrogant. At times, one felt like a second-class guest.
The service staff in the restaurant, on the other hand, were friendly and attentive. We would like to explicitly mention this positively.
Additionally, a points system has now been introduced that resembles PAYBACK more than an exclusive wellness hotel. This also does not fit at all with the original character of the establishment, in our view.
Unfortunately, our impression is clear:
The Seezeitlodge is increasingly trying to maximize profitability while simultaneously cutting back on services and standards that were once taken for granted.
This is a pity because the hotel actually has enormous potential. The location is beautiful, the wellness area is still very good, and the basic idea of the establishment is truly special.
But for us, the price-performance ratio no longer adds up.
After many years, we will therefore prefer other hotels in the future. There are now enough high-quality alternatives in Germany that offer significantly more service, generosity, and hospitality in this price range.
