Enchanting!

Hotel Maximilian was quite enchanting. The location is ideal since it sits in the heart of the village. The decor was unique and tastefully done. The room was incredibly comfortable and clean. The staff was pleasant and attentive. Notably, the breakfast was exceptional.

You Should Stay Here

We liked everything about the hotel. The room was large, nicely furnished, well laid out with lots of storage, a great bathroom and the most wonderful, huge flower-covered balcony with a beautiful mountain view. It was very clean, offered two on-site parking options (a private lot or underground garage), a delicious breakfast with lots of hot and cold offerings and a professional, and a warm and helpful reception staff. It’s a close walk to the center of town, but just far enough away for a quiet stay. We would definitely stay again.

Nice rooms with inappropriate Service

Due to an event we had booked the Hotel Maximilian for one night.
I chose the second most expensive room, as air conditioning was included. Cost about 300 € including breakfast.
The arrival was convenient, but at check in no information was proactively communicated I had to ask everything myself. Possibility in the underground garage for 15 € or outside parking for five euros also only on request.
However, the room was very nice and above all very clean. One criticism for me would be the artificial fur pads on various chairs and benches, which is quite unhygienic. One did not when and how these were cleaned and what the previous tenant did with them.
The breakfast buffet was already relatively empty when we entered the room at 10:15. Again, it was not explained whether you get egg food or similar. In particular, the whole staff did not give the impression that they were trying to satisfy the guest or to offer him a nice stay. The best example was the question the night before, when we wanted to eat something else. Here we were informed that the restaurant was fully reserved. Okay, but no support was offered for finding another restaurant or anything like that.
Here, you're really on your own. This does not match the price or the hotel's claim on its homepage that you should feel at home. I can not recommend the Hotel Maximilian for this price and will definitely not come back.
Also the checkout was not particularly friendly. We were really happy that we could leave the hotel. Basically, there was a very unpleasant atmosphere for us.

Major flaws in Service and lack of friendliness

We stayed for one night in a double room deluxe with breakfast on site. The room was located on the top floor under the roof and had air conditioning.
The check-in process was normal, but not above average. For example, they did not ask how to get there or offer a glass of sparkling wine, which is somehow part of this price category. The kindness touted on the homepage we missed. Even the usual information such as breakfast times had to be asked.
The room itself was 38sqm and had a large bathroom. Inside was a bathtub, a washbasin with two sinks as well as a shower and toilet. The towels and the bath mat had already come of age. So 3 out of 4 towels were very thin and the rug frayed at all corners. This must not happen. The toiletries were from Bogner. When the paper handkerchiefs were off, we couldn't find any supplies due to lack of a bathroom cabinet. There were bathrobes and slippers.
In the living and sleeping area there was a bench and two chairs, all covered with animal fur. You have to like it. In addition, there was a trouser press.
From the bed you have a clear view into the bathroom. It took us a while to discover the switch for the blind. Basically, we have no problem with that, but then I prefer to do the toilet alone.
The coffee machine was from Dolce Gusto. As a greeting, we expected a bottle of still water as well as two red apples.
The balcony was quite spacious and facing the street. We found the seat cushions in the closet.
Breakfast is served until 11 am, at the same time is the check out. When we showed up at about 10:15 a.m. on Sunday morning, the waitress got the information that we were the last. Unfortunately, we noticed this at the buffet, even if we were advised to contact us if something was missing. This is difficult, of course, if I don't know exactly what was on the empty records. There were only light cakes, pretzels and croissants as well as a small piece of baguette. As for the berries, it was reasonable to assume that there were raspberries in addition to blueberries, but the bowl was empty. I took the last ham and couldn’t shake the impression that someone had helped themselves to salmon with the same fork before. Egg dishes were just ready-made scrambled eggs. Whether more egg dishes would have been possible, I don't know. Later, at another table, I saw boiled eggs.
When we wanted to go back to the room after breakfast, the card was already blocked, similar to other guests, although it was still before 11am.
The check-out was tough and the lady, who had previously worked in the breakfast area, seemed quite annoyed herself because the technique was so slow. For the parking space, 5 euros and underground parking 15 euros / day will be charged.
Overall, we missed the friendliness that is usually trendy with such small hotels, mainly because it is the most expensive hotel in the place. The own marketing on the website does not fit the reality.

Really great hotel with beautiful rooms downtown Oberammergau

Maybe the best hotel in Oberammergau?
It was my first stay at this hotel, since my normal hotel was occupied. Now I have found a new favorite place to stay.
EXCELLENT rooms. Great location. Nice breakfast.
Very beautiful decor in the room and hallway. Very clean. Nice staff. Great bathroom with a bathtub (and a shower).
Great balcony (although there should be a complete closure between the balconies. I think it was only on my floor that it was a problem. There was only a half wall. It should be fixed.)
Strangely enough for a hotel of this high standard, there no coffee-maker in the room. If I had known, I would have brought my own. I missed my coffee in my room in the morning and the evening.
But that aside:
I loved my stay at Maximilien and will return.
(I didn't use the evening restaurant this time, but have before, just as a dinner guest - and it is also very nice).

Excellent location
