A medieval dream I will never forget
Staying at Burghotel honestly felt like stepping into another time. It is difficult to describe just how special it is to actually spend the night in a place that preserves the atmosphere and character of a medieval castle so beautifully. From the moment you arrive, the architecture, the surroundings and all the little details make the experience feel almost unreal.
What I loved most is that the historic character has been preserved without sacrificing comfort. The property is incredibly well maintained, and walking through it feels like being inside a story rather than simply staying at a hotel. The location is absolutely extraordinary too. Waking up there, looking around and remembering where you are is an experience in itself.
The service was excellent throughout our stay and made an already magical place even better. I have stayed in many beautiful hotels, but very few have given me this feeling. Burghotel wasn’t just somewhere we slept during our trip; staying here became one of the memories of the trip itself. If you have ever dreamed of spending a night in a medieval castle, this is the kind of place that makes that dream feel real. Truly unforgettable.

This was an awesome property to stay at. Everything was so clean and staff was there for every need. Stay at least two nights. So much to see in area.

Magical!
This place is magical! A real castle (even if restored from a ruin in the end/begning of the19/20th century). Fantastic rooms with lots of things to explore. A great eye for details too, lots of small things to discover lika the room safe behind a picture on the wall or a TV in the cupboard. I hade the room 33 with a splendid view over the Rhein from all windows but especially from the little sitting area at the TV in a cupboard. Staff is amazing and our bags got transported to our rooms in no time. There are a lift that covers one tower (almost) but many rooms are stairs only. There is a faboulus terrace inside the hotel for guests to use with a bar that you can buy a drink from. The sitting room/library is also magical. The resturant is good and when you stay here you will most likely want to eat there. A reservation might be in place. Breakfast is superb! It is worth the price you pay to stay here. Up on the hill is also very quiet and since it is an old castle you will find hints of dusts in the corners but overall it is amazingly clean for such a difficult place to tidy up.

A true castle experience with comfort and view on the Rhine
If you ever dreamed of staying in a castle along the Rhine in Germany, this is the place! I stayed in Room 22 located in one of the main towers and the view was amazing. The room itself was small but very clean and reasonably priced.
You truly get the authentic 'castle vibe' while still enjoying full comfort. The staff is wonderful, friendly and speaks excellent English. Parking is easy, although getting to the room does involve some uphill walking, but they are happy to pick you up if you ask. I also really enjoyed the food served at the hotel. This was my second stay and I am already looking forward to coming back and trying a different room.

A stay at Burghotel auf Schönburg feels like stepping into another century. The location is simply unbeatable: a real medieval castle perched high above Oberwesel with breathtaking views over the Rhine valley and the UNESCO-listed Middle Rhine. The Secret Garden is one of the most beautiful hotel gardens we have ever seen, perfect for a quiet moment with a glass of wine before dinner.
The rooms are full of character, the staff is warm and attentive without being intrusive, and the breakfast is excellent. Walking on the castle walls in the morning with mist still over the river is an experience we will not forget.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic, atmospheric stay in the Rhine valley. We will be back.
