A feel-good oasis in the midst of the Sauerland nature.
Located in the midst of nature along wonderful hiking trails, the Schinkenwirt offers excellent accommodations and the restaurant is top-notch. With a bit more sunshine, we would have already opened the terrace season, but even from the beautifully designed dining area, you have the best view. In the half-board option, you choose a 3-course menu from several options, including regional offerings, game, and vegetables. Here, they have been committed to the Slow Food tradition for a long time. The breakfast buffet leaves nothing to be desired, with a great selection of bread and pastries, homemade jams, jellies, spreads, and game pâté. Fruits, muesli, quark, yogurt.

Unburden yourself in Schinkenwirt Waldhotel!
A wonderful overall experience. A luxurious yet friendly hotel, with pleasant professional staff and great food. The location is fantastic, surrounded by nature, against the flank of the hill, with beautiful views, and access to many hiking trails. We have been here a number of times in different seasons in recent years, where we always experience that we are completely pleasantly relieved.

Every year again...
Every year again...
...we go to Olsberg to the ham tavern. Our motto is to unplug 4 days and say goodbye to the stress of everyday life. And that feeling starts the moment you enter the hotel, which is a little bit away from Olsberg, and you are warmly welcomed and allowed to drink the first cappuccino.
As a guest of the ham landlord, you are clearly and without any doubt the center of attention. Everything is presented very lovingly. This starts with the decoration, which changes in nuances every day and constantly suggests to the guest: Your well-being is important to us. It is the details that make everything seem very congruent. Nothing, but nothing at all, can be found that would not fit into this picture.
In the team, the bank notes that everyone in the Schinkenwirt works with passion , commitment and joy. This starts with the cleaners and runs seamlessly all the way to the service staff in the restaurant.
The hotel is run with incredible tranquility and professionalism, with Gabi and Michael Pfannes always getting involved, always approachable, always friendly and courteous ... never seeming stressed or annoyed. Not only to the guests - also to their employees. They also always treat the guest friendly, are concerned for the well-being and always find a friendly word. The wishes of the guest are fulfilled, there are always solutions here, no problems - this makes you smile permanently inside and outside.
The food at the Schinkenwirt is a real pleasure. We had booked half board, which includes an evening menu. Actually, incredible what's on offer here. There is a daily changing menu that leaves nothing to be desired with a selection of meat/fish dishes to vegetarian or even vegan variants. The kitchen bears the signature of Michael Pfannes - the dishes are prepared with passion and are presented great . The food is always deliciously prepared with selected, mostly regional ingredients and we didn't even have a dish in all these years which - for whatever reason - would not have been OK. The only problem, ....you may come home with 1-2 kg more body weight.
The Schinkenwirt is located on the Eisenberg, accessible via a narrow road. The location is incredibly quiet. At night it is deep dark, no disturbing light, and not a sound that could disturb sleep. The rooms are cozy and functionally furnished and offer a great view of the small forest chapel facing the Eisenberg.
In addition, there is a great sauna house where you can relax after a hike and refreshment with coffee and cake (....the best poppy cake in the world!!!). There are plenty of loungers; water, fruit and nuts are available for the guest to eat. There is another relaxation room, which also offers the opportunity to relax and read and which is equipped with very high quality and comfortable loungers and chairs.
Small events will continue to be offered to guests, for which you can register the day before. An early yoga session with a fantastic yoga teacher was offered here, as well as a singing bowl meditation. Michael Pfannes occasionally offers early morning walks for his guests. We were very lucky to be able to enjoy this freshly fallen snow in 10cm.
Yes,....we don't want to miss the ham landlord anymore. With a smile and the anticipation of our next stay we left for home again after 4 megadays.

Perfect happiness on the magic mountain
Rest and enjoyment , pause, come to rest amidst beautiful forests and unspoilt nature and that only 1 hour by car from the noisy Ruhr area.

A perfect long weekend with friends
It was all perfect! A great room, excellent food, very good wine selection and super friendly staff
