Great spacious and classic European hotel.

We took a trip to Germany and Austria and stayed in Wilderman Hotel. This was one of the nicest hotels on our journey. I loved the extra large rooms, the enclosed balcony, the large bathroom, the king size bed. It was very clean and they had a nice breakfast. The hotel was right by the Danube river also. Great hotel.

Poor service

When we arrived in the room, we immediately noticed dried-up foreign blood stains on the duvet cover. Hard to miss and actually bad enough. At the reception we were then assured that we would find the bed newly made upon our return from dinner. But when we returned hours later, nothing had happened! We had to walk with the duvet in our arms to the reception, where the meanwhile changed staff finally freshly covered the blanket. When checking out the next day, we mentioned the incident to the now third cast. She pretended to be outraged and promised “consequences” for staff. No compensation was offered for us. We suspect that the hotel is focusing on its VIP guests - of which countless photos on the walls testify - and saves any hassle for ordinary travelers. Whether it's hygiene or service. Breakfast was also below average. Only the location of the hotel is exceptionally good.

Who needs the big corporate hotels

Intelligent, respectful, affable and dedicated to her service. Her daily smile lights up the day.
Fantastic hotel, great breakfast and warm.
We've visited over 200 hotels all over the world and we always choose the smaller boutique properties. We appreciate the friendships we experienced similar to Sandra.

Average

The location on Rathausplatz is very good. We had a quiet room. The price was acceptable at 125€/F for a rather small double room. Breakfast simple (there were real scrambled eggs, but only coffee from the pot), but you had a nice view over the rooftops of Passau from the breakfast room. Reception 24/7. Public transport in the old town is a joke: the city bus does not run at all on weekends.
Recommendation: with the ÖBB leisure ticket a day tour to Linz!

Old established hotel right on the Danube

The Wild Man is an old house. Our room was clean, spacious and Bavarian-rural. The bikes could not be locked away at night, but were parked within sight of the reception. The breakfast buffet was rich, the view over Passau and the Danube from the breakfast room on the top floor was worth seeing.
