A+ place - Off the beaten path but beyond expectations.

Came as part of a Tauck Tour.
Was very impressed with the facilities.
Old age appearance on the outside but everything modern / ultra so on the inside.
Definitely will stay there my return non-tour trip. See photos section.
Had their wonderful laid out buffet.
-Hot selections yes - we had the wurst sausage with sauerkraut. Delicious.
-Warm breads was delicious too. Had cut thin but multiple pieces.
-Cold salads were yummy too. Cucumbers creamed, tomato onion. Also cold trout filets; super for lunch!
-desert selection plentiful. Had the cream cheese pound cake which was moist and scrumptious.
Go there as in my opinion you can’t miss.

No, thank you

No, thank you
1. Summer 2. OG (so room with 2 at the beginning, there is still an OG above) unbearable. We ran down the sweat in the room after breakfast. We couldn't stand it in the room.
On Feb. On the day of the stay, a fan was put in the room, which brought nothing for the size of the room and the temperature. The windows are too small.
No passage possible.
Just unbearably hot
2. at our celebration it was also very hot and uncomfortable in the restaurant area
3. as a wedding guest it would bother me a lot if you host the celebration in the courtyard and the other guests are constantly running back and forth
You're not for yourself at all
4. Gluten-free evening menu simply means omitting carbohydrates. Not that you get the idea to create a ‘replacement’. The meat is then available without KH. Never seen anything like it. And the gluten-free rolls were also the worst we ate in hotels
5. in the kitchen preparing for breakfast plastic trays are used instead of stainless steel and food genuine.
6. only plastic water heater with spiral visible
7. the pool is very very cold, nothing with wellness feeling
In the shower in the room little pressure - hair wash no experience.
8. the double bed is enclosed by 2 cupboards- the GDR called and wanted their living room wall back. At night, you're afraid to hit your head against it.
There are strange plastic plants hanging over the bed.
The decoration as a whole: well started and often turned wrong on the way.
We were very happy at the celebration but the hotel and at the price in addition - really not recommended from our point of view

Extremely unfriendly staff

Years ago we planned to celebrate our wedding at Freihof and so we made an appointment with the management at the time to get to know both the venue and the staff. Unfortunately, when we got there we realised that we had been forgotten. After a few phone calls, we were shown around by a member of staff without an apology in a demotivated manner. No clear answers to our questions could be given. In the end we were told that we had to ask our guests to go to the bar by 2 a.m. at the latest to vacate the ballroom. I don't think you throw your guests out at a wedding. In the end we agreed - again by phone - that we would get back to them after our holiday (time to think about it) and accept or decline. An offer was only sent to us impersonally by email. A discussion about our ideas and suggestions was never offered or carried out. During our holiday we were contacted several times and asked to make a decision. This was all a year and five months before the planned date. During this time the price of the offer was also "adjusted". In the end we cancelled. The entire communication was extremely unfriendly, the price was unreasonable in our opinion for such behavior and the fact that my guests had to leave at a certain time was a no-go for us at a wedding. In the end we celebrated somewhere else until 7 a.m. with music and the last guests.

Worst night of sleep ever: suffocating rooms, very noisy

This hotel has friendly staff, an amazing restaurant and spa facilities BUT beware: there is no air conditioning and no air flow. With hot summer temperatures we needed to open the windows to our room. In principle this is not bad, we’re from Europe and used to sleeping without airco. However it was extremely suffocating in the rooms and the hotel also does not have ventilators. To top it off, they placed us on the side of the hotel by their outdoor restaurant and garden where people, including staff members were talking extremely loud until 1 am. If this sounds bad, it gets worse: cats fighting at 3 am, people slamming doors and talking in corridors and the village clocks which chime every 15 minutes for 5 minutes. Now, I write this as a warning because it’s unclear on Booking.com about the air conditioning and the description of the rooms we chose says nothing about being placed on a noisy garden where we will hear things all night. At checkout, the woman was very sympathetic and offered a small discount. This was welcome and appreciated but could not compensate for our experience.

Hidden Treasure

We were looking for a spa-get-away. We found it here with this quaint wellness hotel. The village is picture perfect with its timbered facades in brown and gold. There are some nice restaurants as well. You can walk around and have a coffee in the sidewalk cafe.
The hotel came with breakfast and the spa area was included in the price as well. a couple of saunas and a pool to relax and cool off in.
We also booked a couple of massages with the in-house massage therapist. It was overall very relaxing, just what we wanted.
