Good base to explore from.
Room 105 was a good size, clean and well appointed with a kettle, tea/coffee/biscuits available, a hairdryer and a good sized fridge. Access to property is by a coded key machine located on the walls next to the entrance, which faces the road.
We had to email the owner for the code as had not received the day before arrival. When we arrived, the code didn’t deliver the room key. Asked for help from the bakery, located in the same building and they phoned the owner, who came out promptly and sorted out the key using a different code. Unlocking the door was our next issue, there’s a knack which is counter-intuitive!
Beds were firm and comfortable although typically German pencil thin pillows. The room had air conditioning but this wasn’t working and due to a heatwave, it was like a sauna. Luckily the room has 2 large fully opening windows ( not too safe with young children) and the bathroom had a velux roof light which meant we could catch some breeze. However the trade off for this was the traffic noise, the property is on a junction.
The bathroom was good with toiletries and toothbrushes provided. Excellent water pressure and great shower.
Breakfast accessed with vouchers for the bakery downstairs that offer a range of continental style breakfasts. Not big quantity but adequate.
Location of guesthouse is convenient for exploring the area and the North Sea coast. 5 mins walk from the property is a supermarket, a discount store and a pizza restaurant with ice cream parlour. Plenty of on site free parking but look for the “besucher” label on the parking bays, it means “visitor”.
