Positively surprised!

Very coolly decorated and idyllic family hotel... old, but with great charm! The staff is super friendly and flexible, the breakfast is absolutely fine and hard to beat for the price. We'd love to come back... definitely recommend it!

Cute old hotel. Very attentive staff.
I could nitpick on a few things but I'm gonna stick to the essential: sleep.
I was given a room that faces the street. Sadly the blinds don't black out the room by any mean, so the street lights were lighting up the room a lot. Thankfully I had an eye mask but otherwise I'd have been in trouble.
The pillows are way too plushy. No firm pillow available. As someone sleep on his side that's a problem. Staff gave me a second pillow and that helped a little.
But the biggest offender was the bed: not very comfortable to begin with, it had a slope! You can tell right away when laying on it. I couldn't sleep near the edge facing the room, and had to make sure I was more on the half facing the wall.
FYI, the Expedia page is slightly out of date. Breakfast is €10.00, not €6.00.

Old fashioned charm

Although officially part of Remscheid, Lennep actually is a medieval market town, with a beautiful market square, where a very nice pub and a couple of restaurants are situated. The Berliner Hof hotel is at the inner ring road surrounding the old town, just a 10 minutes’ walk from Remscheid-Lennep station. It is an old fashioned family business, and many things look just like you would expect in a German hotel. The breakfast room, which can also be rented for wedding parties etc., is full of objects that may not all be beautiful (although that is a matter of taste), but together add a certain charm to the place. Rooms are big and comfortable. The owners are very nice, although we only met them at breakfast. And talking about breakfast: this consists of a large choice of bread, cheese, yoghurt etc., with the option of a boiled or scrambled egg.

Nu har jeg boet på hotellet et par gange. Det er for mig en stor glæde at blive budt velkommen tilbage som en god ven. Området er fantastisk og der er nem adgang til motorvej
