Great hotel, highly recommended

Great hotel with great food. The breakfast and evening buffet can't be topped, huge selection, leaves nothing to be desired.
Really great and friendly, very quick staff.
Rooms very clean, fresh towels every day, the bathroom and shower are a bit small, the shower is not really suitable for overweight people. Otherwise there is nothing to complain about.
A bar is open in the evenings.
Very suitable for motorcyclists, hikers and families with children.
The hotel is a bit out of the way, about 40 km from Dresden, only about 10 km from the Czech Republic.

ageing FDGB Home

After 3 days in your house, I would like to write down my impressions here. The house from FDGB times has visibly come of age. It already starts with the very small rooms and the even smaller bathrooms. The parking spaces in front of the house are far too narrow and for 14 euros per day also far too expensive. (elsewhere you get an underground parking space for it) Slot machines with D-Mark marking show the age of the house very well. A blocked-off defective staircase in front of the Dresden wing is just as dangerous as the sloping suitcases on the stairs in the house. There is also a faulty self-service coffee machine in the lobby. In the swimming pool there is a water gutter, which I call the source of accidents and so is no longer appropriate for time. I would like to know who gave this house 3 stars + ...
We can not recommend the house.

Older but nice what made of it

The hotel is relatively remote in the middle of a small village of Schellerhau. There is really no parking in the village near the hotel, but the hotel has its own paid parking. Directly at the hotel and further afield on the hotel premises for €12 per day, across the street for €4 per day, which are no further than the more distant ones for €12. Those directly in front of the hotel are equipped with annoying poles per parking space, so that parking is not oblique. But that's an unspeakable crank until you get in there. I find 12 € per day parking fee extremely excessive. Outside there are many covered seating options also for smokers next to the entrance.
The staff at reception are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are a bit old, but still nice and extensively decorated. For example, there are proper hangers that you can take out, wardrobe hooks, desk with chair, cuisine, notepad, free 1 bottle of water and much more. But practical storage areas and shelves have been installed at every available corner, which makes it easy to set up your things. However, the shower is very small due to space.
Breakfast is very extensive. There are salads, various breads, fruit, spreads, yogurts, scrambled eggs, sausages, oat slime, the sausage is even separated with hints without pork and vegetarian. Coffee is available as a thermos or from a very good vending machine. Of course, at the price everything is not necessarily organic and delicatessen. The O-juice is e.g. sugar water with flavor. But there are 3 different still waters.
The buffet dinner is very mixed. Almost all the food was clearly lacking salt and I never salted anything else. Some taste quite fair, others are quite tasteless. So good cuisine is different. But it is also a commercial kitchen for extremely many guests. And it is always immediately followed up until the end. For 28 € it's okay, you always find something. There is also a children's buffet at all meals. The hotel is also very geared towards families with children anyway.
For evenings there is a hotel bar with also attentive and friendly service at reasonable prices. There's a disco night on Saturday night, nice.
Overall, the age is noted in the hotel, for example, there are a lot of drill holes in the bathroom. But it's all clean. Overall, the hotel seems to have to calculate succinctly, because it is only used every other day "out of sustainability". Day cleaned and the usual "for environmental reasons" with the towels (why do you think the guests are so simple?) and the unreasonably high parking fees are also a hidden room price increase. Nevertheless, the hotel is a recommendation.
