Nice stay.
A lovely family hotel conveniently located for Neuschwanstein and the surrounding area. The service is excellent, and one is treated kindly at all times. The food was consistently very good, and the breakfast was completely sufficient. Our room with a balcony had a good view of Neuschwanstein Castle; it was clean and cozy. Parking is directly at the hotel.
We recommend it without reservation.

Great location to see the castles and good food
Very nice old hotel. We got the family room which can actually sleep up to 5 pax. You open the door of the room and you will see 2 single beds plus a wardrobe at the side and the toilet on the left. from the main door of my room, on the right is the door to another room with 3 beds, shelving, wardrobes and a writing desk. GOod lighting.
I didn't have a balcony and the windows are higher up whereby I need to use a chair to stand up to look out.
I have to mention the wood being used is awesome. I love the pine. Everywhere is pine! I notice the beds and pillows are very soft so be prepared. Best to bring one's own travel pillow to supplement. Room overall is clean but take note that there is no kettle or mugs within the room nor any bathroom ameneties besides the bottled shampoo/body wash that is available in the shower area. We brought out our own tooth brushes and tooth paste.
The hotel has a lounge on the 1st/2nd floor whereby guests can use the kettle and mugs there but there is none in the room. a little inconvenient to be honest. Btw the rooms still use old fashioned huge keys! So it's a throw back to good ol days. :P
Parking is very conveniently located opposite the hotel at Parkplatz 7. If you drive, just park there ( reverse parking) , walk over to check in and the reception will give you a piece of paper to place on your dashboard so that the guy who mans the parking knows that the car belongs to a guest of the hotel.
The Buffet breakfast is mainly cold cuts of ham, cheeses, milk , cereal, breads, different pastries, butter, nutella. Scrambled Egg and sausage were the hot items I recall, probably another at most 2 more hot items but I can't recall what they were, maybe potatoes and pancakes? There wasn't many hot items. This seems to be the norm of EU breakfasts. They serve various coffees like lattes or cuppacinos etc and hot chocolates for the kids! I would say the buffet breakfast is good enough for the price paid. no complaints.
Reception was staffed by a very friendly lady.
I had reserved dinner on the 1st night I got there as I had read that the restaurant served a good german meal. and yup the food is great! The Schweinsachsen was tender and juicy, buger was awesome, the spatzel ( I hope I spelt that write regarding the german cheesy noodles) was yummy and the salmon pasta was wiped clean by my kids. yums. I highly recommend eating at the hotel restaurant.
Wait staff was polite and helped to take our family pic. :)
The real selling point of the hotel ( besides the awesome restaurant) is the location. It is literally 2 to 3 mins walk away from the tourist office that sells the tickets to the Castles and the bus terminal where you can catch the bus to Neuschwanstein castle. The walk up to Hohenshwangau castle is about 15 mins from the hotel ( take note lots of steps) so for us we walked briskly to the base and then trudged up the steps took about 15 mins depending on whether you break in between. SO give it 15 to 20 mins from the hotel to get up.
The lake is also nearby which is next to the bus terminal.
Fussen and Hopfensee lake is a short 10min drive away. :)
All in all, I have no complaints and overall find this place very convenient as most tourists would stay 1 to 2 nights at this place which is good enough. Def recommend staying here .

“The Hotel Alpenstuben convinced us all around. The whole staff was extremely friendly and accommodating so you feel welcome from the first moment. Our room was very nicely decorated and also absolutely clean – exactly as you would wish. Especially practical was also the parking directly opposite, which made the arrival and stay very pleasant. We would love to come back!”
