A traditional alternative to the neighboring Hotel Sackmann brasserie

One evening, as the Sackmann hotel brasserie was full, we were offered dinner at Sackmann’s Wanderhotel Löwen, a neighboring hotel that belongs to the same chef. The staff often refers to it simply as the "hikers' hotel," by the way.
The atmosphere there is different, with rustic and pleasant decor that is rather warm and unpretentious. The service was decent, but not particularly remarkable.
We chose simple dishes, like a Wiener schnitzel served with fries, a great classic that is found frequently in the region. Unpretentious cuisine, but pleasant for a simple and efficient meal, with dishes around €30.
We also enjoyed a somewhat confusing strawberry and sparkling wine cocktail as an aperitif.
A decent address for a casual meal, especially when the Sackmann hotel brasserie is fully booked.

Dreamily beautiful.

We were passing through and stayed for one night at the hiking hotel Gasthaus
Löwen. The room was very nice, cozy, and clean. The dinner at the Gasthaus Löwen was very delicious and the staff very nice. The breakfast buffet at Hotel Sackmann was absolutely top-notch and leaves nothing to be desired.
There is everything your heart desires.
We will definitely come back.

Unacceptable food service

We ate at the Wanderhotel Löwen on Sat 7/11/2026; it was actually unacceptable, potatoes inedible, old fish, old side dishes. Since we
have had bad experiences with the kitchen repeatedly, we will not stop there again.
We made the staff aware of this and asked twice to bring these shortcomings to the attention of the kitchen. The rating of unsatisfactory is still too good for this.

Amenities no longer contemporary; scraped carpet, old and very small bathroom; original technical equipment; other guests were not visible; charm of a ghost hotel

Unique experience

We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the pampering board and the pool at Sackmann very much. The room was spacious and cozy
