We stayed at Schade’s Wohlfühlhotel about 4 weeks ago and honestly a bit unsettled by individual negative reviews. All the more positive we were surprised!
The hotel is very nice, the rooms are modern and well maintained, and the beds are wonderfully comfortable. Especially pleasant: You are allowed to smoke on the balcony or in front of the hotel entrance – all very straightforward.
The hosts are warm and professional. You get a room card that also allows you to open the hotel entrance around the clock – perfect if you come back later.
For us the stay was really successful all around. We will definitely be back soon and are already looking forward to it!

Catastrophic
It would be mild to call this hotel terrible. This questionable establishment is run by a fairly aggressive family who, in my opinion, are constantly looking for conflict and strife.
I checked into this hotel on business, and at night it was pretty cold (-2 °C) and it was snowing. When I returned to my room, I found that it was barely warmer there than outside. The heaters were switched off, and the temperature controller was directly connected to the reception and could only be controlled from there. I found some extra blankets in the closet and could just about fall asleep.
The next morning, I took a shower and hung the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door, as I don’t like someone touching my personal belongings in my absence. As I passed the reception desk, I explained my situation and asked to raise the temperature in the room a bit. Then I received a rather rude reply: At night, the heaters were switched off and during the day the temperature was set to 20.5 °C, which was completely sufficient.
I tried to explain that 20.5°C was still too cold for me, and asked to raise the temperature to at least 21.5°C. But my request was grossly rejected. To avoid spoiling my mood, I went outside to my car, lit a cigarette and waited for the engine to warm up.
Suddenly, a young woman came running out of the reception – who turned out to be the owner’s daughter – and told me that I was being kicked out of the hotel for smoking “attention” in my room.
Completely surprised by the situation, I tried to explain myself. I said that I have a room with a balcony and only smoke iqos, all of which are on the balcony. But then the entire family attacked me – four people – and forced me out of the hotel. I could just pack up my things before I was thrown out.

Excellent!
Great, family-run hotel in an absolutely quiet location. Nice, functionally furnished rooms with balcony, bathroom with natural light. Very good breakfast, very friendly and personal welcome and service. Small gym and sauna area (for a small surcharge), which we unfortunately could not use due to time constraints. Free parking is available. The restaurant is unfortunately only open under the Wochr.
Cars are probably indispensable due to the location. Price / performance is absolutely right, clear recommendation!

every year again ...
... is not only the beginning of an old German Christmas carol ...
it is also this hotel as our preferred stopover on our return journey from Croatian holidays ... after 900 km we need a rest break ... and we have been taking it for years in Schade's feel-good hotel ...
due to the strong demand it is recommended to book a room very early ... especially as we Trips with our dog (Wotan ... a BGS) and the hotel has only 2 rooms, which are preferred to those travelling with dogs
it's almost like coming home when we stop for our stopover as we did this year ...
that we spend the night there as in Abraham's womb is not only due to the behind us strains of the long car journey , but also the comfortably furnished room (for years repeatedly room 9) ...
and at the latest in our dreams we start to rave about the breakfast buffet of the next day (for us always a Sunday) ...
the buffet brings us back to the decision-making emergency every time, what all the treats should (can) be eaten ...
especially the fresh white sausages ... of course with sweet mustard ... are a must have for me ... while my wife tries to snack on everything else on offer ...
so strengthened we continue our journey every year (then only 450 km) with the firm intention to make our stop at this hotel again every year in 2025 and 2026 ...

Fab Hotel and Restaurant
This Hotel was perfect for both business and pleasure. Everyday I looked forward to the Breakfast and dinner was very good that you do not need to go anywhere else in Selb. The surroundings is relaxing with walks you can do. The hotel also went out of the way to deliver something of mine. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
