It was enjoyable!

Together with a couple of friends we spent the Whitsun weekend at Hotel Am Park. We certainly did not expect a 6 star hotel after reading the reviews. Upon arrival at the car park, the abandoned indoor pool gives a somewhat sad look. At the reception a friendly reception and despite the fact that it looked like a double booking had been made we soon got our access pass for our ( spacious ) room . Everything necessary was present and the room was clean. The food was certainly fine and choice was plenty. Surroundings are great for walking and (for the sporty ones) for cycling. Just behind the hotel was only just laid out a kind of sports field where you can play table tennis, table football , chess and bowling. Finally I would like to mention that I respect the people who work in the hotel; what hard workers and always friendly and helpful.

Midweek in the Eifel.

Great hotel! Renovating, but that doesn't bother you as a guest! Rooms are large and clean, and an almost new bathroom. Very friendly and helpful staff. We are working hard, in short a nice stay there!!!

Sloppy...

Upon arrival we found a sober terrace with dirty full ashtrays and garbage can. Quick check in and to the room which is large and with a balcony, but also here a full ashtray of previous guests. The arrivals hall/reception/bar and relaxation area resembles a nursing home. Staff are few and far between and they are not sure what to do. Bring back your glasses/cups yourself and a wet cloth over the tables. The food is good and more than adequate. Fortunately, there is regular cleaning here. In short: once and never again.

Good stay for a short break

You pay for what you get, a cheaper hotel with semi all in formula. Dinner was tasty, varied, daily fare, but be careful you go on time. If it's busy, there might be something on it. Table selection is not free and when the hotel is full your literally table is a table. Desserts were basic. Breakfast was catered for and just tasty, same daily. For the afternoon you can make sandwiches and take them with you. Rooms are clean, partly renovated. Hotel does give a somewhat decrepit impression. Everything worked, but always looked just not top. (patio table was crooked, elevator did not look top, outdoor space was not really top maintained) Staff was friendly. Maw, you can stay there price-wise well, but with some more maintenance/renovation it would all look a bit more attractive and pleasant. That also determines the experience. People speak of daily refreshments and coffee with cakes..............but outside a bowl of defrosted mini doughnuts around 16 o'clock we have seen nothing of this. The coffee corner was freely accessible throughout the day. The location is quite central ( Trier, Monschau, Aachen Cologne). Hiking and spicy cycling are fine.
