Very nice hotel in a quiet and great location

Still a great hotel , even after several visits in the period of 25 years.
Location 1a : View of Bodden and the Zicker mountains, to the great beach less than 200m just across the road
Rooms in the annex are large, functionally furnished and have direct access to the spa area.
Wellness area in great shape. Great pool, various saunas/steam baths
Breakfast varied with many delicious products
Restaurant due to staff shortage with limited supply and slightly simpler dishes. We had 2 of them with herring, both very good.

How about hospitality?

Not really a 4* hotel and certainly not a 4*+. More of a holiday apartment complex than a hotel. The breakfast is very positive, there is a sufficient selection and good quality and the service staff (also in the restaurant).
The rest is unfortunately not up to the same standard. The first problem: the constantly annoyed staff at reception, for whom a customer's question is already a nuisance. Systematically addressing customers with annoyed "yes, what?" and with a closed face instead of "Hello, what can I do for you?" is not particularly hospitable. Questions or requests are almost never answered in a solution-oriented or customer-oriented manner. They are generally initially brushed off with a kind of "no, that's just how it is with us". Even minimal events are taken as an opportunity to let off steam. Did you accidentally pull the entrance door instead of pushing it? You immediately get a "well, if you push hard it'll work" booming out. A lady was approached in the pool area and apparently disturbed while she was secretly eating breakfast, who also reacted annoyed and with her mouth full.
Furthermore: Internet hardly works. So if you want to watch videos or do a bit of home office work, it won't work (answer to question: "well, that's just how it is, it's analog here and why would you work here..."). The swimming pool is always pleasantly empty... as the water temperature is hardly above 24 degrees! (When asked if it wasn't a bit cool, the final answer was "no, it's just good and fresh like that"). Since it was the main topic of conversation with the teenagers at the next table at breakfast, this family probably got the same answer. Otherwise, coffee (you have to pick it up yourself from reception, there is no room service) is not always available in the afternoon because the staff couldn't handle the machine. Restaurant so-so, as is often the case on Rügen, better on the menu than on the plate (how can you overcook fish like that?).
We quickly understood it and, in order to avoid stress, avoided reception and made do with films, internet, home office options and the swimming pool. We then cancelled the booked spa treatments and didn't visit the restaurant either, although we had planned to.
Room absolutely fine, nothing special to say, clean and neither very nice nor tasteless. Oh yes, one thing: our sofa bed was clearly showing its age. Unpleasant, persistent back pain was the result. If you are coming as a group of 3 or 4, you should book 2 rooms.
It went on like this until the last minute: the tourist tax was calculated incorrectly on the bill, 3 adults instead of 2 adults and a child. This caused an immediate problem. "We have nothing to do with it, it comes from the city." Hum... But the information that we are 2 adults and a child should have come from the hotel? "Then I have to check whether you registered your child as such when booking..." etc., etc. How high is the probability that you don't know how old your own child is? Why not just admit that there was a mistake and apologize? To have peace and quiet again, we simply forgot the money we had overpaid and drove away.
Conclusion: We had a good rest. Beautiful location, nice air, close to the beach, beautiful hiking trails. If you don't mind the rude, almost impolite tone of the reception and the poor service, then you can go there. But a little distance from the customer and a more stylish approach would not hurt. It could be so much better with less! What a pity!! A hotel in the cheaper price segment, OK, €200 per night for three nights in October/three people, is not a reason. We would personally prefer to pay a little more and feel welcome. But linking price and hospitality is of course nonsense. There are cheaper and more expensive places where you feel wonderfully welcome.

Wirklich gut
