We had a very nice stay at this hotel not much to do in the village but the food at the restaurant was good and the service was perfect - our stay was due to going gravel biking in the national park Harz

Overcharged and manipulated.

We arrived at the hotel after trying to book it on line with hotels.com. We were struggling with the WiFi so thought we would book it in the hotel reception, using their WiFi. The price on hotels.com was £59. The receptionist/manager/owner (not sure which) talked us out of it, saying that hotel.com take 25%. He tried talking us in to a better room but we said the basic double was sufficient for one night and we showed him the one on the hotels.com official website at 59 euro. We thought he said the room would cost 55 euro, so booked it. The room was supposed to have tea and coffee making facilities, but there were just a couple of camomile tea bags and some coffee sachets. No milk. As I like tea I went to reception to see if I could have some English breakfast teabags. They gave me 3. We bought milk so we could have a drink. When we went to checkout in the morning he didn't want us to pay by card as he said the hotel would incur high charges as it was a visa card.. We had never had an issue like this before and we have travelled all around Europe and other continents. We reluctantly paid cash. The bill seemed excessive as we were expecting to pay 55 euro plus tourist tax. It turned out the room was 75 euro even though we had shown him the hotels.com website at 59.and we assumed the rest was tax. We left and translated the bill, only to find that they had charged 2 euro and 50 for three tea bags. We were not impressed.. we should have booked with hotels.com or better still, not stayed there at all. He obviously was just trying to get as much from us as he could buy manipulating us into overpaying for the same service on hotels.com.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Our main decision to book here was based on the fact it stated there was a swimming pool before we booked. On arrival once they found our reservation we were notified that no swimming pool actually exists apart from in a next town somewhere. Very disappointing. Blame was put on Hotels.com by staff. Saying every time they tried to contact them it would take 20 minutes of their time to try and get through. Personally i think they need to get this updated asap. We travelled over 5 and a half hours to get to this hotel for its leisure facilities. They had none and in middle of nowhere so nothing to do in the area. Thankfully we travelled out each day to other towns but would not stay again. We were also told our room would be cleaned. In fact the towels were still wet from previous use and the sheets looked like they had been refolded and not replaced. We had a meal in the restaurant on the first night. Kebab off the specials board. Not impressed with what we received for what we paid. Barely any meat on a baguette with white sauce all over it.

Not good and too expensive

Unfortunately, the restaurant is really not good. Visually, it fits in well with the village. Unfortunately, the food was not fresh or homemade (tarte flambée, schnitzel not pounded, bolognese very strangely seasoned, etc.)
The most outrageous thing was the price for two children's portions of spaghetti bolognese - 2x €8.20. That was more than an adult portion and we were talked into paying for it (we wanted less, "the men can manage")...
Well, it was on vacation. Once and never again. It still annoyed us, unfortunately.
