Warm hospitality and fantastic food – a hotel to feel good about

We felt completely comfortable in this small, fine hotel from the beginning. All our special requests were fulfilled without hesitation – you can immediately notice that hospitality is very important here. We would like to highlight the food in particular: lovingly prepared, with a lot of taste and a real eye for detail – simply fantastic. The young boss and her dedicated team do a great job and take care of their guests with a lot of heart. We would definitely come back!

Big disappointment!

The terrace and the additional garden were packed. It was very loud. The four of us had to wait almost 2 hours for our food. There was neither an apology in between nor an excuse at the end. Food was already being served at neighboring tables, even though those people had arrived later than us. Explanation from the manager upon our inquiry: Those were just appetizers, therefore finished faster in the kitchen. Since when is a large plate of Wiener Schnitzel an appetizer??? Apparently, locals were given preference here.
Our food was only mediocre.
Overall very disappointing. The restaurant had only recently reopened and had a great start, but has already declined massively.
We will not recommend it anymore and will not visit again.

The dining experience was subpar, but the location was top-notch!

The location of the restaurant is unique, and the ambiance is very nice. Unfortunately, the dining experience and especially the service did not live up to the first impression.
We had to wait 1.5 hours for our food, which can feel like an eternity with three children at the table! Unfortunately, the drinks were incorrect, and the correct order took a long time... Apologies were nonexistent.
The food unfortunately did not arrive at the same time after a long wait; two out of seven dishes were forgotten, and the served fried potatoes were completely burnt. We had to get our own cutlery and napkins because we simply sat without them in front of our plates...
Sorry - no response..
After the missing meals arrived at the table with a delay, the request for new potatoes was reluctantly acknowledged, but they arrived so late that no one was hungry anymore.
Sorry - no response..
The most interesting discovery was that one of the burgers had no bottom; there was a bun on top, but none on the bottom.. In fact, the culinary performance was truly subpar! If the house were not in such a prime location, there would be no reason to come back. It was not very friendly to completely ignore the many shortcomings!

Highly recommended

We stayed for five nights at the beautiful Hotel Alpenhof and ate very well three times in the restaurant of the house (the other two evenings the restaurant was closed). The menu is quite meat-heavy, but by combining a small salad, for example, with the grilled vegetables or the tofu and vegetables served in half a honeymelon, you can enjoy and get full even without meat. In the meat dishes, the Tafelspitz stood out in particular. All dishes were delicious and worth a visit. Unfortunately, the current operator and chef of the Alpenhof, Michael Weitzhofer, has to end his work in the house in mid/end of October 2024. So you have to hurry up for a visit. We hope Mr. Weitzhofer will continue his cooking skills elsewhere.

A culinary delight and a very warm welcome.

This hotel has no reception which took us by surprise... Ring the bell and you will be answered!
We had a very spacious apartment with equipped kitchen and huge sitting area plus balcony.
A block of flats is being built opposite the hotel (July 2015) so make sure you request a room at the back, overlooking the mountains (we were unaware of the works and therefore did not get that chance).
The hotel is in fact tucked away 2.2kms away from the town, therefore a car is necessary.
The highlight of our stay was the outstanding home made meal we had on the terrace... A delight both in presentation and taste which reflects the professionalism of the owner and his love for food.... The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, otherwise we would have eaten there again....
Highly recommended!
