The Hudewald – very good breakfast and pure nature
Four houses with six apartments and a dozen bungalows each – the hotel and resort “Das Hudewald” in Ückeritz on Usedom offers space for a good 100 holidaymakers on the edge of a settlement and close to the coastal forest edge. This means holidays in nature and halfway close to the Baltic Sea, which is reachable after 15-20 minutes on foot through the forest (or in 5-6 minutes by car). There is an indoor pool and other leisure facilities in the hotel complex. Of particular note is the really good and rich breakfast.
I had rented an “Appartement Plus” in June 2025 in the Hudewald for 5 nights and was accommodated in house 4, room 48. The 40 sqm apartment had a living room with simple sofa bed and small kitchenette (fridge, stove, dishes, kettle), sitting area, small closet, table, 2 chairs, TV and a balcony (with table and 2 chairs). In the bedroom was a double bed, a wardrobe and there was a small luggage rack. The bathroom was equipped with shower (and curtain), toilet and sink. Everything functionally furnished, rather simple style. In the hallway there was a dressing room and a mirror.
Breakfast was served in the main house, which also houses the reception and the indoor pool as well as the sauna. And the breakfast had it on me, especially since you can have breakfast outdoors in good weather. Divided into three FR times (7.30, 8.45 and 10 a.m.) there is a regulated crowd. Every morning at breakfast was offered some variety. In addition to bread, rolls, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, sausage and cheese variations, there were also good salads, fish, fruit, beetroots, cereals, good juices, water, small sausages and sometimes milk rice with applesauce or small pancakes, poffertjes, etc.. Coffee was on the table. Coffee specialities were available for an additional fee.
Of course, the Baltic Sea lured you to swim nearby. Those who wanted to save themselves the parking fees (and relieve the climate) reach the Baltic Sea with a walk through the coastal forest. In the Hudewald resort, in addition to the pool (8 x 6.5 meters pool, 26-28 degrees water temperature, towels at the reception) in the common room of the main house, there was also a pool table, children's play area, book reading corner and table tennis.
The wireless reception is still developable. The rooms didn't work, only in the main house near the reception was the reception passable. Parking is available on the hotel/resort premises and costs 10 euros per day. Tip: If you book directly with the Hudewald, the parking fees will be waived. Towels, bed linen, and shower towels are included. There is a change of linen every seven days in the bungalow cottages. In the apartments and double rooms there is a free intermediate cleaning on request, which can be registered at the reception.
Tip for things to do. A tourist tax (3,90 Euro) is due on site. In addition to visiting the beach, the UsedomCard also includes the use of the Usedomer bathing railway, which runs to Bansin, Heringsdorf and Swinoujscie, among others – with the card free of charge. In addition, within Ückeritz you can also take the tourist cable car free of charge (also to the beach) and use the bike rental system.

Disappointing in the bungalow.
We rented a bungalow in Hudewald for a few days in June and were disappointed with it.
It was located high up in the woods - quiet, but also not very sunny, even though the sun was shining.
As soon as we entered the bungalow, an unpleasant, musty smell greeted us. Unfortunately, even airing it out a lot did not help.
Cobwebs were already at the entrance door and also in the room with some residents.
Fortunately, there was a broom at the bungalow, so we could first clean everything up.
The entrance door, the bathroom door, and also the door to the bedroom scraped so much on the floor that they often got stuck, and you would bump into them if you weren't careful.
A small closet in the bedroom (which smelled even worse when opened than in the rooms) was the only one available. Inside, there was a possibility to hang up some things. We did not do that; we wanted to wear the clothes without the musty smell from the closet. No other options to store the brought clothes in any way!
We were only two, but what do four people do who might want to stay for a week or longer??
In the bathroom, there was a shower with a curtain and no shower tray; the entire bathroom floor remained damp for a long time after showering and dried poorly despite the fan.
The breakfast, which is offered in three stages, was very good.
The buffet was sufficiently stocked; there were scrambled eggs, ham, and fresh fruit as well.

Still very relaxed
We stayed a week at the Hudewald resort and were greeted very friendly.
There was a wonderful breakfast, only the coffee was a bit thin.
The bungalow was a pleasant size and made a friendly impression.
Sometimes it smelled a bit musty, especially in the bathroom.
We had booked expensive massages for 65€ each.The lady was very friendly and asked for complaints.
In the end, only the body was oiled and nothing of massage was felt. Too bad about the money.
Wifi in the bungalows would be great and a way to prepare something to eat once in a while.
