Excellent place to stay
Loved everything about this place from the very generous hosts to the beautiful design and decoration of rooms. Great location to get the most of Cologne and at the same time enjoy the village feeling of Cologne-Weiss. A skip and a hop away from the beautiful Rhine.

Disappointing stay, unsafe and misleadingly presented as a “Boutique Hotel”
We booked this place via Booking.com because of the positive reviews, although we already found it strange that there were so few photos available online.
On arrival we got the key from a lockbox. The room (Timmermanns Suite) was locked with a padlock, not a normal lock. Inside, there was a musty smell.
Major issues:
• No smoke or CO detector despite a wood stove in the room
• No emergency exit signs or evacuation plan
• No ventilation in bathroom/toilet (no window, no fan)
• Advertised as a Junior Suite, but no table, no chairs, no sitting area
We booked three nights but left after the first night. We complained to Booking.com and to the owner, who never replied.
This place is unsafe, misleadingly advertised, and we cannot recommend it.

Book only in the main house or visit the rooms in advance
We took the family to the old carpentry shop in Cologne. The reviews fit, so what. In advance it should be said the rooms in the main house were good, our room underground. At about 3 x 3 m with bathroom we had a small musty room without a possibility to accommodate our clothes. A bed 1.60 x 2.10 or so, certainly nice but also very sporty. I was actually inclined to give only 2 *, but that pulls the overall ratings too deep into the points cellar, which certainly wouldn't be fair. Parking was offered on the street, if available, or in a public car park for 12,-€/day. Breakfast was OK with really lots of fresh stuff, you could find something. In addition, you could have egg prepared in many variants. Our rating is based on our room without considering the rooms in the house.

Leider haben Sie in Ihrer Bewertung vergessen zu erwähnen, daß wir Ihnen das kleine Doppelzimmer mit genanntem Bett nicht etwa zugewiesen haben, sondern Sie dieses bewusst gewählt haben, um ihren großen Hund unterzubringen (Haustiere übernachten bei uns nur im Fachwerkhaus, um Allergikern gerecht zu werden).
Wenn die älteren Eltern lieber in einer großen Suite untergebracht werden und der alleinreisende Sohn ein großes Doppelzimmer bewohnt und bei der Buchung vorab die Zimmer genauso auf Wunsch zugeteilt wurden, kommt uns diese Kritik an den Haaren herbeigezogen vor.
Ob der "Muff" (und der Platzmangel) an der 1m Matratze für den lieben Hund lag oder an unserem Haus, da mag sich jeder selbst ein Bild machen.
Die "Alte Schreinerei" wurde komplett kernsaniert und alle Hausabschnitte (Baujahr 1860-92) nur mit Naturmaterialien ausgebaut. Sie riechen bei uns Lehm, Kreide und Leinöl. Wir reinigen mit einem Heißdampsauger ohne jeglichen Zusätze mit moderner UVC-Technik, die sämtliche Keime abtötet.
Unsere Zimmer können von unseren Gästen jederzeit besichtigt werden und die Größe und der Standard sind auf unserer Webseite einsehbar.
Wir freuen uns, für Großstadtverhältnisse einen günstigen Parkplatzpreis anbieten zu können.

Nice Bed and Breakfast in tranquil surroundings
Nice small-scale Bed and Breakfast, it is an old building but perfectly renovated. Rooms and bathroom were very clean and inviting.
We received a warm welcome from the host and enjoyed our stay and the breakfast.
The location is great for those seeking tranquility away from the city center of Cologne. The Bed and Breakfast is very close to the river where you can go for evening walks.
There are a couple of options for dinner at walking distance, however, the restaurants close quite early.
If you are looking for nightlife this is not your district.
Arriving by car is recommended. By public transport it is not very convenient to get to (combination of bus ride, tram ride and walking).
The price-quality ratio was good and I can recommend this place.

Beautiful peaceful room, friendly staff & locals
We stayed here at the end of March and we got very lucky with the weather.
Our room was a great size with beams and a very modern wet room. The owner was very friendly and helpful, speaking great English. Daily they left out fruit, cake and facilities to make tea and coffee. the breakfast was great with a great supply of fruit, yoghurt, breads, meats, cheese and a choice of eggs.
there is a nice walk a couple of minutes from the b & b where you can walk along the Rhine. The only downside is the distance into Cologne and you have to beware of the cab drivers from cologne, trying to take you the long way back ! We would definitely return a great find.
