Hotel for cycling and hiking...

The hotel seems like a great place for wanderer and bikers who are looking for a stay during their activities but we have been staying for business reason and that wasn't very satisfying. The hotel is located in a dead spot, so no mobile communication. Unfortunately the wifi is very poor and can only be reached from a few spots, so it's very difficult to connect to the outside world at all. The service was a little rude sometimes and the food was average quality. The worst was probably that the rooms are very close to the main road which seems to be quite busy, even through the night.

Good hotel for a stayover or as starting point for hiking

We stopped here during a two day hike on the Bergischer Panoramasteig and had a good time.
When we arrived in the afternoon we checked-in to our room, got a room with windows out to the street, at first we thought this might be loud due to the motorbikes, but from 8 pm on there wasn't much noise from the street anymore. The room itself was bright, two comfortable single beds, a wardrobe, a small table with chair and a modern and clean bathroom.
After dropping our backpacks we went down to the restaurant, had some good local food on the terrace that is right next to the beautiful garden behind the hotel. The food was good, there is a good choice of local meals and drinks and the prices are fair also.
The hotel was quiet all the time, even if our room was above the restaurant that was full during the evening time.
The breakfast in the morning was good two, really good fresh rolls and bread, a good choice of topping and drinks, eggs and fruites were available, too.
If you want to hike or bike in this area, I would definitely reccomend this hotel as it has really good standard for a country hotel.

About the only place in town (although a wee bit outside of it) but not bad.

This is a great area to visit. If you enjoy hiking and a chance to get away from it all, this place is it. The son runs this now but the old man is still around and he's been there for a long time - kinda like the "Old Man" on Pawn Stars (History Channel). Breakfast is really good. German baked goods rock! The coffee is great and they keep it coming, which is not quite so commonplace in Germany. In the Mornings, when you drive uphill towards Kreuzberg, don't be surprised to see deer grazing in the field, near the woods. It's quiet and peaceful. Rooms in the older part of the hotel struck me more as funny than anything else. The stand-up shower was tiny. If you turn around, you'll bump into the controls and switch the water off. Don't expect AC. Like many family-run German inns, as well as the White House, since Richard Millhouse Nixon was there, this place has a bowling alley too. If you take your luggage to the car before paying, the old man will think you're trying to skip out on paying the bill and send someone after you pretending that he just wanted to make sure you didn't take the key. It's hilarious, but you can get a good rest and have a great meal.

Very good location
